Hi there,dear edgrace,
if parents wish to report on genuine address cheaters < 1 km (be it SCGS or any other popular, hot school in Singapore), may we inquire which is the right MOE department that handle this, or to report to ? Or is there any specific email address one can write to ?
is it possible to help find out ?
Thank you for kind co-operation -
to create public awareness, let public know the clear procedure for handling genuine address cheaters transparently.
Sorry! i just saw your post after i posted mine which i believe kind of answered your question? As for email, i think there is an online feedback form on the website where you can fill up too. Alternatively, there's [email protected]
here's how they work. All complains, inquiries, feedback will be channeled to the relevant departments. You should get an auto reply after you submit in your first email. Depending on the case, someone from the relevant department will call you/email you for further clarification. It usually takes a 2-3 days.
In addition, to make the matter known on a bigger scale, isn't it best to write in the the Straits Times Forum? That's a sure way to get MOE to notice you and it will be great to know their reply too
Good Luck!

Just a thought:
Instead of fighting a ‘lost cause’ we can use this forum to brainstorm ideas how we can prevent ‘cheats’ instead. This way, we can suggest these ideas to the relevant authorities should anyone decide to write in.
Here’s an idea i had… Make changing addresses at the NPP more stringent. Anyone can change the address on one bill. Maybe we can suggest that prove of home ownership/rental is required during the process? So we can avoid people from using friends’ addresses… As for people MOVING IN one year, one month, one week or even one day before registration… Gee, that’s going to be a tough one. It may be immoral, but legally, there’s no discrepancies there…
Any ideas anyone? -

edgrace,Principals who extend 'favours' out of personal interest do not get away with it either. They will know better .....
how does moe sniff out principals who extend favours? i know of kids getting into this popular school along the bt timah belt at the end of the year, after all the p1 registration fiasco is over. they have no clan / church associations nor PV and they stay >2km away. The only association i can think of is these kids have parent(s) who know the school P in some way.
The school can always say there were withdrawals at the end of the year and they have the discretion to admit any other students.
It's pretty difficult to track right?
like you, i'm also pretty amused with the hype in this thread. does it only happen to this thread? :siam: -
So all has forgotten about getting their child to school but to find ways to hunt these ppl down…
Just focus on the next school that your child will going to if you don’t get Ballot…
Face it, the odds are not good!
There are better things to think about now, like the future of your kids!
So what are your plans? School? -
What is the PSLE score to enter SCGS secondary if a child is from SCGS primary? Is there any bonus? Is there any thread on this and secondary school performance? Thanks.

Hi there,
for those who fail to ballot in, only solution left is ... prepare your daughter well for SCGS P1 Entrance Admission tests, seek transfer.
btw, can any SCGS parent share :-
roughly each year, how many vacancies were allocated for those coming in via P1 Entrance Proficiency tests ? how many seats were allocated, for those who sat tests in January 2012, beginning this year ?
I wish to share with parents here that SCGS has done away with entrance tests. The test conducted in Jan 2012 was the last one. If you recall, towards the end of last year, there was an article in the newspapers regarding SCGS' entrance test. When my DD sat for the test in Jan this year, the school actually asked us parents for feedback whether to continue with such tests or just have a wait list like what most schools do.
My DD got through the first round of test, but did not get pass the interview round. Around June, I was informed by the school that they have decided to do away with the entrance tests and just go by wait list. I was asked to submit the wait list form if I was still interested in transferring my DD
The wait list form can be downloaded from the school website.
(Just for info sake, there were about 20 or so P1 girls taking the test in Jan this year, and the principal sort of hinted that there were only \"1 or 2\" vacancies available.... Chances even worse than balloting!) -
Yes, SCGS has done away with admission tests. I am not sure if this is a good or bad news. To me, admission tests are more objective and everyone stands equal chance. Now without admission tests, what will be the criteria? First come first served on the wait list?
