Wow forevernikon, looking at the pace the number of vacancies being taken up so far at SCGS this year, there are definitely not many left in Phase 2B and 2C.
And I’m still thinking of sending my PV application for my daughter who was born in 2008. To all SCGS parents out there, do you think worthwhile for me to go through this when my turn comes in 2014 P1 Registration? Any advise?
Thanks… -
Mangai:
Hi Mangai, if you have time to serve as PV, I think there is no harm to submit your application. Reason being, you could still turn the offer down if you have been accepted should you change your mind later plus doing PV offers a chance for you to know the school better.Wow forevernikon, looking at the pace the number of vacancies being taken up so far at SCGS this year, there are definitely not many left in Phase 2B and 2C.

At this moment, I think it would be difficult to predict the chances of getting a place into the school via P2B a few years later.
JMHO.

you can proceed try PV.
but is tough to get selected by SCGS as PV. All the best ! -
Thanks so much for your encouragement dorisp, spikey, and phtthp.
I know that getting selected as a PV at SCGS is tough and the odds are against me. But after hearing what you all are saying, I will definitely give it a try. Hopefully my skillsets match that of PVG committee is looking for.
In fact, I went to the school earlier to find out more info. Unfortunately, the admin lady attended to me was not able to offer any advice as to the types of volunteer work they are looking for. -
at end of Phase 2A(1), what's the difference between 2012 vs. 2011 (SCGS) ?
refer SCGS
http://www.scgs.edu.sg/content/view/25/156/
Total vacancies: 200
i)
2011
Phase 1: 52
2A (1): 29
2A (2): 39
at end of 2A(1): Total 81 seats taken. (40.5 % gone)
ii)
2012
Phase 1: 62
2A (1): 48
2A (2): out this Friday evening
at end of 2A(1): Total 110 seats taken. (55 % gone)
difference: 2012 higher by 14.5 %. -
What could be the possible reasons that drive up the take up rate by 14.5% at SCGS this year compares to 2011?
I thought with MOE rule change this year, we expect to see better chances for Singaporean kids?
