For those who applied under GRC if there out of 2km they need to go for balloting right.
As in all phases, balloting kicks in when there are more applicants that what the school can offer.
The priority in securing a place is based on distance, those staying nearest get in first in the following order: <1km, 1-2km and lastly>2km.
There will not be any distinction between PVs, church/clan members and GRLs. So in SCGS case the 7 applicants that resides >2km from the school be they PVs or GRLs have equal chance in balloting, it all depends on who ladyluck favours!
As for how many PVs in SCGS, don't think anyone has the info, the sch keeps it confidential.
It is definitely stressful to be at the bottom of the pecking order but   :nunchuk: won't get us anywhere.
We can respond and react better when we are clear-headed.
So keep
and best of luck to all P2B parents going for balloting this Wed and to P2C parents too. -

Very well said.Have been following this post for days now and it's interesting to witness the revelation of the human facade. I understand the stresses and anxiety as i'm due for balloting myself, in a few days too. But as i was getting caught up in the 'voices in my head' syndrome, something struck me. \"If it's meant to be, it will be\". religious or atheist alike will at some point agree that SOME things just happen and are NOT in our control. Call it fate, destiny or serendipity, but things happen, no matter how we try to fight and take things into our own hands. I applaud all parents here who have 'moved heaven and earth' and make relentless efforts for the good of their children, its incredible, truly. But after all that, there's nothing else we can do. I'm pretty certain that the schools and MOE are not blind to the iniquities involved and i'm even more certain that what goes around comes around... Maybe in the midst of our eagerness and well-intentions, we lose sight of what truly matter-\"Everything happens for a reason\".
We all want the best for our children, but life is also unfair and it's something we need to grapple with and in the process teach our children how to deal with it. Propitious or not, we have to face it like adults and deal with what life throws at us with full strength...
Here's wishing all of you the very best of luck and life

I m sure there re many parents like me have been reading posts but not commenting.
Years back, i went thru 2c registration at SCGS and in the room, there was a very upset couple. lamenting there re ppl they know who only rented a place and not staying in it. They challenged the staff to go investigate every single one of the applicants.
The staff explained that they can't do that, but advised them to notify moe since they mentioned they KNEW such cheaters.
I was taken aback by their strong reactions. wondering if there was a need for such vengeance/hatred in the air.
as expected we went thru balloting, within 1km @ 2c. those days before the balloting day were long n tough.
after balloting, i happened to find out the couple who made so much noise in the room that day, too rented an apt to get into 1km. The difference is they stayed but moved out when lease ended.
I can't help but to think the pot calling kettle black. However I am thankful my girl got in, and that yr, it was a 50+ seats with 60+ applicants within 1km.
please be prepared to go thru balloting, i really dont thk it is possible to skip it this yr.
My girl was picked @ 50% of the balloting. i almost teared. As parents we are blessed to have the courage (to take such stress & balloting-heart attack) and foresight (in picking affiliated sch). SO let's show our kids what it is to 'come what may, we are ready to face the storm'.
Moving forward, i hope they will not scrape the alumni girls' rights which some readers are writing in to ST forum for (sickening). I told my girl putting her in scgs is the only inheritance I am leaving her for her daughter. And before she seriously consider her mate, please marry someone frm gd sch so her son will have phase 2a rights. (pls dont stone me for being realistic). I foresee the registration many yrs to come will be worse.
All the best parents, you can do it. Do your kids proud!

I cried after reading your post. I agreed with you with all your points. I really pray for God's favour upon my daughter who has been praying to get in SCGS for a long time. Each time, our car passes by the school, she mentioned it is her future school. I must be prepared to overcome the fierce storm, which you quoted \"let's show our kids what it is to 'come what may, we are ready to face the storm'\". I will be registering my daughter in SCGS under phase 2C within 1 km if our registration under 2B (one of the GEP schools and is a distance from home) is unsuccessful on this Wednesday. Please pray for us. Thank you. -

I was too nervous contributing to this forum, making myself useful i forgot i wanted to tell you all this too.
I know of someone who also moved within 1km. And the child didn't get balloted in. It wasn't easy, to be staying across the street, seeing other kids wearing the school uniform but not your kid.
Hence the child enrolled in another school, but we kept track on the admission test. it was announced on the website. And the child went for the test and got in.
somewhere in Feb.
So all is not over. Like my friend who had the upper hand, within 1km, has 2ticket vs 1ticket for PR (i heard many PR got in that yr. but is their luck, what can we say?)
She went a big round. but her child eventually got in.
Everything happens for a reason. i believe. For me, now i have a chance to brag to my girl, how much sacrifice i have made. the sudden revelation at 3am, to decide to move within 1km for the sch. and the heart attack balloting process. I beg her to please stay in the sch. dont get kicked out and waste my efforts i have put in for her and of cos for my granddaughter as well!
haha
Be praying for all of you! -
I think we all here needs a drink! Anyone for a glass of wine to chill.... :please:
Let's all lighten up.. as it is, we can't do anything but to wait till 30th Aug comes! :salute:
\" May all our daughters study & play together in SCGS! \" :xedfingers:
I will drink to that!!!!! :celebrate: -
The confirmation letters for SCGS P2B parents who got in without balloting are ready (ie 1km and 1-2km).
The school will post it out tomorrow.
For parents who prefer to collect it personally, you may go and collect it at the main office today. -
We also went thru some hurdles to get my gal into scgs and she
βkickedβ herslf out by getting into gep.
