Why don’t you consider ACJC as well? For science, TJC is stronger I think. AJC is strong in math I heard.

Yeah ACJC is also a good option. What about ACJC vs. TJC for science. Is the distance from West Singapore should be the reason enough to choose ACJC ahead of TJC (net score 6)?

Actually the people in NJ depends on who you mix with. After all, there are some super quiet ones who never say anything to others except to those in their clique. Then there are also those who are super hyper and crazy - those people are really outspoken and they can just socialise with everyone. Maybe, it is changing, I have no idea, but being in the IP requires the students to be more interactive and outspoken, because, these students with better academic achievements and sociable attitude tend to be given much more opportunities on the local as well and in the international field.

Did you go for NJ's open house?
Hi, yeah I went for NJ's open house. I quite like the school compound, looks very nice and the Oasis is a nice place :). The students are generally quieter than vj's but yeah, probably different groups? Anyway thank you very much for your input, I'll definitely consider NJ! 😂

Hi there:) sass student here. I got 7 points raw(with 2 bonus cca points). I can’t decide if I should I go to njc or sajc now. For me, it’s 45mins to njc and 20mins to sajc. I am also not so sure of the culture in njc, because sa has a really unique culture, so will it be hard to adapt??? Furthermore, none of my friends are going to njc, and are instead returning to sajc. But academics wise, nj is definitely better. So which jc should I choose now???>< please help me ASAP!!! Thanks!!!:)

Of course they do. Obviously, all JCs will make students work hard but beyond that there definitely is a variation in school culture. Try interacting with people across the various JCs and see for yourself.

Btw, Class of 2010 Hwa Chong alumnus here who is happy to take questions on HC 😄 (or more generally, A levels, Uni etc)

For allocation of JC, I wonder if it’s the same as Sec 1 Posting, where MOE allocates places by merit. That means, for example, opting for all Science Stream,

                  Choice 1 : VJC
                  Choice 2 : TJC
                  Choice 3 : MJC
With nett of 5 pts, pupil X doesn’t qualify for Choice 1 as VJ’s COP is 4. By merit, she should be posted into TJC as its COP is 5.

However, if allocation is not by merit, but by order of priority also, with high demands of many opting TJC, even 6 & 7 pointers as Choice 1, then pupil X will not stand a chance anymore, having places TJC as 2nd choice. So she may get only her 3rd or even last few choices?

I believe it will still be by merit. The black swan situation is more <5 pointers pick (VJC &) TJC for some reasons although this could be abit irrational.

                      Anyway, good luck!

Oh but tjc's cop is 6 not 5...so will the person still stand a chance if its not by merit? Hehe cus I same case here, going to put vj then tj(:
