Adam Khoo Learning Centre - Discussion

I agree with Gopal, Happy child=Good results.
Hi, Jtparent,
If your child has specific problems that needs addressing, sending your child to tuition centres that conduct 20 students classes WILL NOT HELP. Just imagine, your child cannot do challenging questions. There are 10 students who don’t know what is going on in school and 5 who already know everything. the other 4 are just like your child.
Worse, if the teacher they hire are inexperienced (most of the time) they just dangle the fundamentals, ask your child to do some worksheets that everyone has the exact same copy and call it a day.
The tuition centre earns $240.00/month/child = $4800.00/month/class
The inexperienced teacher earns $30/hr = $60/2hr class = $240.00/ month /class
Your child = NOTHING (Just sit in through the motion and waste time)
You = Hard earned monies GONE.
Parents who have been through this SCAM. Please HAIL with me. Thanks. STOP this crazy money making groups. We all know who are the big players in this industry: Ada- Kh–, Stal—d… who else?
Sigh. Parents, please take note -
Math is a subject that cannot be learnt effectively in a big class for students that need help - period.
Like investments, we may not know for certainty if the investment will reap the expected return but at the minimal it must have the ingredients of a good "stock". Three criteria to assess if the "stock" is worth investing.
1) Student teacher ratio (This one can verify easily)
2) Programme (This one can verify somewhat easily. Ask to view the samples, ask them about their programme strategies and what concrete things they will do to achieve the strategies. e.g. if they say they will help the children to improve challenging Math, ask them how they will do it. To avoid being blinded by marketing bullshit, ask to see concrete examples.)
3) Teachers (This one is the hardest to verify. A phd in Math may not be a good primary math teacher. A diploma may not necessarily an ineffective teacher. A full time teacher do not provide more certainty than a part time teacher. My DS is in TLB and over a period of 1 year they changed three full time teachers. If the centre tell you that their teachers are current school teachers, you can be certain its not true because contractually its not allowed. If the centre tell you their teachers are ex-school teacher, make sure the teacher teaching your child’s time slot is that teacher and not another. Even if it is indeed that teacher, the teacher may still change one month later.)
At the end of the day, if the manager tell you a story that is too perfect to be true, its probably not true. I am more convinced by a story with some flaws than one that is too perfect. -

Hi All
I am considering sending my sec 1 child to Adam Khoo’s "I am gifted Senior" program. It seems this is more of an on-going program which places emphasis working on the child’s motivation, behaviour, mindset & learning attitudes towards his studies & also practical life-skills in his growing up years.
Has anyone been on this program ? Is this really helpful & beneficial to the child? (my child really has problem with time management & is just not focussed with his tasks… hope to sign him up with a good program …)
Thanks ! -
Hi Claire,
Please read the above posts. Please do not send your child to Adam’s Khoo. It will be a waste of your money and time. seriously.
Regards,

I have 2 kids , p5 and p3.Hi,
any1 sent the kids to Maths/ English mastery class in Novena. DS in P5 cant cope with the challenging question. Will it be good to send him there or JEI/PSLE MATH.
Pls advise.
tks
P5 kid I sent to Adam Khoo Maths Mastery. P3 kid I sent to JEI/PSLE maths. why ?
Adam Khoo Maths Mastery - taught by Dr Yan. I would say go for this is class if you kid is already good at modelling because they teaches ATM method here, which is a simlified form of algebra. My P5 girl likes it because ATM actully help her to reduce solving time for challenging maths problems. I like the weekly weeksheets by Dt Yan because he takes effort to do questions that have a trend of appearing in past year PSLE and teached the shortest way to sovle the problem. Your kid needs to have the Maths foundation to benefit or I think he may be confused.
JEI/PSLE maths - I sent my son here because he needs attention and I like the small group size. They also empahasize on models which I want to son to be proficient in it. I intend to transfer him to Adam Khoo when he is p5 so as to get him exposed to ATM as well. -
Anyone has gone through Adam Khoo’s 5-day "I am Gifted" senior holiday camp or Dr Ernest Wong’s of Learning Mastery Super-Teen holiday camp? Is it useful for the children? Pls share your experiences. Thanks.

Hi,
I have sent my step son to Adam Khoo's camp and he really enjoyed it, even the crying part. I don't think that any of the courses have a 100% positive feedback, simply because every child is different. I asked around about the comments about them dropping computers and giving out money but nobody I talked to have experienced that. I bet that the computer dropped accidentally and somebody thought it was part of the course. Thanks for listening  -
