“Seems to be” - implies she isn’t sure.

Maybe her son was asked to drop H2 to H1 like you commented. Which ever way you look at it, being “asked” to drop from H2 to H1, as opposed to doing it voluntarily, fits the bill of “seem to be struggling academically”.

IDK, maybe you and stetan’s child are the perfect A type and her son is getting just B. Relatively speaking, compared to your kids, her son also “seems to be struggling academically”, especially if everyone has the same starting t-score.

Just because you aren’t agreeable with someone, doesn’t make them fake. And having strong views about something doesn’t make you right all the time or those holding opposing views wrong. I’m not surprised you concur with stetan, have you disagree with him on anything before?
I am not sure if you know how to read my post. I already explained clearly the situation elsiecheong77 cited is high impossible in EJC. This is told to me by my daughter. Can I know if you are a parent of a student of EJC ? If not, what makes you think you as an outsider knows more than a student from EJC.on their internal process. You argument is just full of assumptions

Just because you are disagreeable with stetan on all issues does not make you right. You are equally know for having strong views, even though they are wrong e.g VJC being naturally bestowed ??

And sorry, I dont agree with just any individual. I agree based on how sound their post is.

It's possible to be in JC2 and struggling academically.

Some people pass JC1 easily while others have borderline passes. There are also a small handful with conditional pass.
According to my child, this situation is almost impossible to happen in EjC

Firstly, they do not have conditional passes. You either fail or you pass. And if you have been struggling since J1, you would have been asked to drop a H2 to H1, typically tour worst performing subject. So at the beginning of J2, it is quite impossible to be still struggling since the school just started. If the student is that bad, he would be requested to be retained

Hence, i concur with stetan that what was posted was highly fictitious, similar the usual operandi modus of winsomeloosesome

I think in all IP JC, the JAE students will be a minority in the cohort.

Sure. If you think that a difference of 1.2 pts is not on par… so shall we say Ejc uas is around the same as vjc?

Btw, you do know that the vjc cohort’s COP was 5 and that of EJC’s was 9 which is a difference of 4 pts. But yet EJC’s UAS was able to achieve a UAS that is around that of VJC’s?

Would you not give credit for that?

      @phtthp

If your child is aiming for ri/hci, then go OP. Otherwise just go IP. You get to save on worrying about o level and get to go to a good college with s spanking modern campus which is on par with vj and nj

May I know your ' on par with VJ and NJ ' meaning? Campus or academic results?

No. Definitely not campus. Both vj and nj campus are quite run down in my opinion especially vjc which is close to 30 years old

More from a UAS results angle

      Ejc mean uas is 82.4
      Vjc mean uas is 83.7
Njc median uas is 84.4. Median is typically a couple of points higher than mean. Hence Njc mean uas should be around 82.x

Thats why i say they are on par

Congrats to EJC for their fine performance at the EW Barker Challenge

Muscle and mettle, brains and brawn, @ejcodac has it all. Two teams of our JC1 ODACers emerged 1st and 2nd runners-up at the 2018 EW Barker Challenge at NIE. They pulled, they climbed and they flexed their tremendous team spirit — well done Alastair, Marilyn, Elena, Nevin, Joel, Xuan Ling, Shih Ern and Boh Shin

Why are you asking me, a non-grassroots person, this question? I'm not paid or obliged to speak up for those PAP-lackeys.

But using my commonsense as an educated netizen, I can perhaps provide some reasonable answers to your age-old question.

First and foremost, teachers are salaried civil servants. In contrast, GRLs are unpaid volunteers using their spare time to provide labour and services to the community on a regular basis. This is community service, not contract of service whereby benefits must be taxed by IRAS.

That's why volunteers are given a special parking label at a concessionary rate (just by googling I got that answer already)

      Car Parking at HDB Estates

This Scheme facilitates GRLs in performing their community service, such as visiting residents and organising events. GRLs who drive and live in HDB estates must first buy a valid HDB monthly season parking label. They may then apply for a special parking label, which allows them to park at designated car parks within the constituency where they serve, up to 11pm. GRLs who are non-HDB residents may apply to buy this special parking label at a concessionary rate as they are not expected to park overnight or most times of the day.

      https://www.gov.sg/factually/content/what-do-peoples-association-grassroots-leaders-do

Granted that their jobs may be voluntary, but why should such perks be extended to them...They chose to enter into this role \"with their eyes open\" ( phrase coined by you)

Even if and only if necessary, they could always claim carpark for all the duties they perform on the behalf of the grassroots. Is there a need to extend the free parking constituency-wide and even when they park at their HDB flats for the night or watch a movie at the town center ?

Furthermore, they do enjoy other perks such as priority entry to primary school at Phase 2B.

Does the President or PM pays parking when they go to the Istana for work?

Does the MPs pay for parking when they go to the Parliament house?

If you haven't realised, civil servants are civil servants. Civil servants are NOT elected parliamentarians. They come under a diff payroll system. Those 3 top guys of this sovereign state, elected by the people (supposedly), are accorded diff privileges and entitlements.

Can you help explain why grassroot leaders get to park free anywhere within their constituency as part of their \"perk\"?

Hmm I have never heard of company providing free parking for their staffs.

My hubby’s company office building parking costs $400 every month and he has to pay from his own pocket.
I used to park for free in my previous company
