... and on the other end of the scale, Tangs is having their members' promotion today (10 Feb). Just spotted in Straits Times, part B (page B6), Tiger is having a promo too. But selling for $299 and it comes with 5.2L Thermal Magic (made in japan) and Endo 1.8L Thermal Magic cooker. Guess, this will come in useful for those with big families. But of course, more expensive lah

Yeah, I saw that too, but thought that was not worth mentioning since at $299, it's on the higher end and not that many people are interested in getting such a high end one at the beginning. For me, I don't need such a high end one too when a cheaper one can do the same job. -

Schweppes, that's a VERY good deal too.. But will burn a bigger hole in my pocket la.

Are you still looking for the 2.5litre thermal pot? Shop & Save has the exact same sale today for the same 2.5litre pot that Happy Mama and I bought prior to CNY. Same price at $19.99, under their house Brand, \"No Frills\" Brand.
Make it fast if you don't want to miss it again!

You intend to get it?

I got my Tiger Thermal last year during one of the Tangs cardmember sale. That time, didn't know abt Maid's el cheapo lobangs
:stupid: so I bought it after reading all the wonderful feedback on thermal pot on ksp.
Still, no regrets lah. Must comfort myself
My Tiger has been serving me well.
even tho the price is :!: compared to Maid's lobang deals. :frustrated: So now, whenever I read abt her good deals, I try not to think too much and compare. Otherwise I will :clubmyself:
-
Schweppes, yes Maid's lobangs are indeed good. But most importantly you've gotten it at a good deal too and have been using it constantly. At least it didn't become a white Tiger.

-
schweppes:
Oops, sorry schweppes! :imsorry: Didn't know that I am such a bad influence! :clubmyself:I got my Tiger Thermal last year during one of the Tangs cardmember sale. That time, didn't know abt Maid's el cheapo lobangs

Anyway, like you said, at least your Tiger is serving you well and not being kept as a white Tiger like what Happy Mama said, so comfort yourself that you got a good quality product as compared to the Cheapo that I bought!

Okie... managed to cook Beef Stew with my thermal pot over the weekend.
I bought Australian beef cubes (for stew) at Cold Storage.
1. Marinate it with soya sauce, worchester sauce and red wine. Coat it with plain flour (or all purpose flour to bread kakis... kekekek...) Leave aside for a while
2. In the stainless steel pot, pour some olive oil and lightly fry chopped garlic and onions.
3. throw in portebello mushroom (actually, any mushroom also can but I like portebello as it has nice earthy taste).
4. throw in diced carrots and potatoes. Lightly fry for a while (abt 2-3mins?) and then pour in red whine to give it a nice sizzle.
5. throw in the marinated beef cubes and let all the ingredients and flavour infuse with each other.
6. pour in tomato paste/ puree. As I wanted a but more gravy, I used my fave Heinz Grilled Capsicum and Tomato soup as the stew base.
7. Include basil and rosemary for a more herby taste. Actually can use any herb u want or leave out if u dont fancy
Cook over low flame for abt 30mins. Transfer to thermal pot. Ready to eat for dinner end of the day.
Altho the beef was nice and tender, I wish it was a bit more flavourful. Maybe I compared my beef stew to resturant stews, so of course can't match their standards. But dh and my girls were quite happy with the texture and flavour, and enjoyed the meal.
Also they quite sweet lah. Said that it was the meat's fault (choice of beef cuts) rather than my cooking. haha
Btw, according to Jamie Oliver's version, he used beer instead of red wine. So that may give it an even more bigger kick!!

Anyway, Maid, hope u not mad. I didnt mean that cheapo means no good. Hope u didnt' think I meant it as an insulting way. In fact, if can get a better product at a cheaper and more affordable price, why not!!
