        Need help pls!!

I got a 5l pot but usually making soup for my family of 4, I only make about 1.3l (less meat and soup enough for family). Can I just make 1.3l using this 5l pot? Isnโ€™t a must that we have to fill up 50% of the pot??

        Thanks

          hi,

just wondering, can i cook the soup at 630am.. and have it for dinner at 7.30pm?
          Hi
I have used Thermos and cook my rice and soup at 6.30am, dinner at 7.30pm. food is still warmed and my kids love it. In addition, i will steam fish and veg for them apart from food from Thermal pot.

Each brand of thermal pot may hold differently on how long the food can be kept warm.

I use the Tiger thermal pot and so far itโ€™s serving the family well.

To save on cooking time, I would cook on Sunday afternoons and have the meal for Monday dinner. So when I return home from work, all I need to do is to cook rice and just to heat the pot and dinner will be served piping hot. The meats will be very tasty and tender, having soaked all the flavors from the broth.

I find these dishes taste better overnight:

            - bak kut teh
            - chicken herbal soup
            - chicken stew
            - ayam buah keluak
            - ayam sio

After boiling your meats/soup for 30mins, place the inner pot in the thermal pot and avoid opening the cover after that to avoid contamination.

Am I right that thermal pot is mainly for cooking rice, soup, stew? Suits family that likes soup? Can I use it to steam fish or any other dishes?

Have not tried steaming fish with the thermal pot tho. Not sure if other forummers have tried that. If need to steam fish, I just use my regular steamer pot.

What is the best size to cook soup for a family of 4? The other day I saw the Sansui pot was offering at $35/- for 2.5 litres.

If your family likes soup, get the 5-litre pot and you can boil soup for 2 days in one pot. It saves time and soup gets more flavourful overnight. Of coz you need to put the remaining soup in the fridge and heat up the next day.

If you dun like to drink the same soup for 2 days then get the smaller ones.

If you get a big pot and only boil a little bit (less than 50% full), the heat will not be maintained for 8 hours.

How come after boiling my soup for 10 mins, I put back in thermos pot. My soup still not cooked after 4 hours? Is it because I must boil longer?
