Yeah, I am having headcahe to weigh this \"Far & good school\" Vs \"Near & not so ideal school\" to consider too.baby2201:
Has a fren whose son is in Victoria. he is doing well in the sch n most importantly very happy there. She recommends the sch but i find it too far.

Hi
Far & good school <----> Near & not so ideal school.
If I need to, I will choose far, good school for my son. About one hour to 1.5 hour traveling time one way, is acceptable to me/my son.
Hope it helps.
Btw, SCGS better or MGS better ?
Thanks -

Just wondering for those with high scores 265 and above which apparently there are quite a few here, how come no one mention NUS high or the new science and technology high school as a choice ?
Is it because those schools are considered not elite enough ?
Or they only take in students through DSA ? -

There are many things to consider, like
-Distance
-CCA Record
etc.
You can check the school's niche area before making decisions. -

I would agreed with yr teachers. Has a friend whose daughter is in RGS, she went in with a T-score of abt 265. Doing great in sch & most importantly, she is happy. -

SST only takes in students through DSA. NUS High doesn't participate in S1 posting exercise although you can apply directly to the school with your PSLE results.Just wondering for those with high scores 265 and above which apparently there are quite a few here, how come no one mention NUS high or the new science and technology high school as a choice ?

I also have a friend whose daughter is in Nan Yang and is doing great there. I think what matters most is your attitude. Both schools provide great education, so it's up to you to make a decision. Check out their niche area, your CCA Record and distance before selecting the school of your choice. Wish you good luck.StudentABC:

See, I m really in a dilemma :? On one hand, hope he can get into HCI, on the other, worried that he cannot cope if he can (by luck) get in. I am trying to persuade him to choose Catholic High for the 2nd choice ,but somehow, he is not very keen. :?:
If he gets in to HCI, he will be able to cope up. Not to worry. Means that being the last one in HCI is better than being the first one in some other sec schools that he dislikes - my opinion. Simply because he is proud to be a HCIans and being proud is important. And make him promise you to study hard if he gets into HCI, likely chance he will.
In additional, some children are not meant to be last or top in class or in school or in career as well, simply adaptation. Put him into a school with him as last, he will climb to the middle. Put him into a school with him as top, he will drop to the middle also..... So you will need to understand your child first .... i think.
