To help parents with their choices, you may check out bandings here:

They are also in booklet 2.

      banding for express:

      banding for normal:

You may also use this website to search for schools.

        Oh Dear:

Can anyone advise? My son scored 218. Should I pick as first choice East Spring Sec Sch or Coral Sec Sch? Which one is better?

I think east spring is a better choice.
        East Spring -Band4 (L1B5=13)
        . AA - ☆☆

        Coral - Not banded
        ● AA (Academic Value-added) (Special/Express) - Bronze

        Agreed..

          carebear:

          My son's score = 245.

          1st choice - Victoria
2nd - TKSS or Maris stella?
Should i take the chance and apply Victoria as 1st choice (COP=246)?
Also if he gets in, then he will be in the lower cohort, which can be discouraging.
Or should i forget about Victoria and consider TKSS or Maris Stella, and also which should one?
Anyone from TKSS or Maris Stella who can advise?
          TIA.

Take Maris Stella. If u've read my earlier post (won't blame u if u had missed cos this forum is superbly active 😄 ) , I've a few ex-schoolmates from Maris Stella & i find them v driven, decent, focused & high achievers. I've a childhood fren (now a doctor) from Maris Stella too.
As for Victoria...can't comment if u should try cos i also don't wanna \"ruin your son's chance\" ...how badly does your son wanna go Victoria? IF he is v keen, i guess u can try since ur son is off COP by 1 point only. BTW is your son atheletic? i mean if your son can run..etc perhaps can try Victoria & tell the principal your son can run for the school ... if not , then Maris Stella is also a very good choice really.
Take Care & Good Luck 🙂 BTW your son did really well.... i guess anything 245 & above is really good results .. Congrats 🙂

          Thanks maisy! 😄
Sorry i did not read your previous post.
Could you please direct me to it?

After discussing with my son, he has decided against VS cos he is worried that he will be at the bottom.
So it is now between Maris stella and TKSS.
Yes, Maris stella was impressive during my time.
Whereas TK tech at that time wasn't. I know cos i was from TKGS, and my brother was from the former TK tech.
But seems like TKSS has worked hard and improved rapidly over the years.
However i will be going down to take a look at both schools tomorrow.
          Thanks once again, maisy!

You are right! Bright kids are everywhere and anywhere.....not only in that 'specially labelled percentage'

My son scored 241 and we reside in Bishan area. Catholic and Anderson are out of reach now. Need advice on what schools to choose from Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Toa Payoh or nearby area? TIA.

Zhonghua, cop 238. Located at Serangoon. Son was from there and I'm staying at Ang Mo Kio/ Yio Chu Kang.. Can try St. Josephs too, cop 244, maybe can appeal? 🙂

but when my my gal took back some info cards (nicely packed in a pack) fr TKSS, i was impressed by their 2008 O level results, way above national ave distinctions. when u go down 2moro, take a pack of it, there're much info on it.

                      noob:
Please advise if 259 consider mid range?

No lah, 250 is considered Top 10% already. However, whether 259 is ''good enough'' depends on which school you are eyeing. 😎
