      Is this not applicable then?

Ok. My apologies. Wasn’t thinking about level 2. To elaborate (taken from SINGAPORE PRIMARY SCHOOLS SPORTS COUNCIL
SPECIFIC RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS 2020):

Level 2 individual top 3 medal winners of the previous year, must progress to higher level events, while top 3 medal winners in other Developmental and Elite categories may compete in the same level or higher level events, and only not be allowed to regress to lower level events.

Not sure why your pic shows level 3 but basically only the lowest level medalist must progress to the higher level while the rest can compete in the same level or higher. Therefore, not being able to compete in the same level having medaled is only partially correct (and only affects the lowest level).

It’s not MY pic, it’s a pic from the NSG document.

Just trying to learn from this forum and would appreciate but less condescending responses.
        Thank you.

The gym coach will usually advise which level to compete based on the girl's ability and the competitiveness of each category. If a gymnast is really good, they will most likely compete in the toughest category in their age group.
If the objective is to win medal, then gymnast can opt to compete in an older or younger age category as there will be less participants. less competition = higher chance of getting a medal. e.g if there are only 3 participants, then surely there will be a medal.

Hi, Can anyone advise how is raffles gymnastics compared to prime gymnastics? My soon to be 4 yes daughter has been attending prime gym for 6 months. We are interested for her to pursue competitive stream in future. Prime gym will select for competitive stream at 4 years old and the coach said she is still at beginner stage. We don’t think they will pay the extra attention to her to prep her for the competitive stream. We took a trial at raffles gym with coach Dima and he said that she is doing good. Raffles will start selection for competitive stream only at age 5. So we need some advise whether to make the switch to raffles or not. TIA.

FYI in case anyone is interested to see how RG clubs fared at the recent national championships (for the younger girls.)

Updated the document in the link with more data but the summary is below for interested parents considering gyms,

Rhythmics Gymnastics Gyms in Singapore rank (in descending) by number of gymnasts in the top 3 of Stage 1-3 and FIG Jr categories in the 2022 National Championships

                    1. Bianka Panova Academy
                    2. Agape Rhythmic Gymnastics
                    3. D'Gymnastique Academy
                    4. Karpenko Gymnastics Academy
                    5. National Training Centre (By invitation only)
                    6. Fly Once Gymnastics School
                    7. Rhythm & Groove
                    -. Funyard Management Consultancy
                    -. Leopard Sports
                    -. Releve Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy
                    -. TJ Gym

(-) indicates no participants from the gym entered the Top 3 in their category of competition.

Hello everyone, need to ask for advice, what can I do if my daughter’s school is not supportive of gymnasts joining NSG? As in, they do not want to allocate a teacher to be the in charge for the girls during NSG. I do understand that under the parent scheme, only 1 parent 1 child for each category (Senior / Junior), so if there’s more than 1 kid wanting to compete in the NSG for gymnastics, and happens to be in the same category, then it will not be allowed, unless the school has a teacher representative for them.

NSG portfolio is also for DSA purpose… if her school refused to support, this will affect the gymnasts chances of DSA-ing into their school of choice in sec isn’t it?

                      Thank you in advance.

I think you may have been mistaken. It is not 1 parent for 1 child. The NSG rule states only 1 Legal Guardian / parent of 1 of the student athletes can be appointed as School Adult Representative (Parent) (SAR(P)). Hence, if there are 2 kids who are competing, only 1 of the parents / legal guardian will be appointed by the school (assuming the school doesn't want to send in a teacher representative). Refer to Annex E of the https://nsg.moe.edu.sg/Public/rules_and_regulations/8573/%5BGYMNASTICS.

However, the above is on the assumption that the School Principal is willing to endorse and appoint the SAR(P). If the school is not keen to appoint or support, there's nothing much you can do. It would be good if you can speak to the school directly and highlight any past experiences you may have (e.g. volunteer with Singapore Gymnastics, holds a Fundamental Coach Accreditation, etc) if you want to be appointed.

If the school doesn't want to support, you can always take part in the open competitions like the National Championships and Singapore Open. For the purpose of DSA, I think a good performance in these open competitions are worth more than the NSG, as most coaches / teachers are looking for talents in these competitions (bigger pool) rather than the NSG (smaller pool).
