But I was refering to Express Stream.

For Express stream, St.Margaret was Band 4 last year and improved to Band 3 this year. Their \"academic value added award\" achievement was consistent throughout many years..4 stars (2 + 2)

        Hi,

I have been hearing abt this appeal thingy. What U mean is that if you are eligible but bec there's too many applicants, you can appeal to get into the school? Will this delay the chance of getting into the 2nd school?
Any idea how they decide whether to tak in those in this waiting list? And what is the considerations scools wil hv in mind when accepting these cases in appeal? And when should U appeal?
        thks
Hi millan, if you are talking about appeal to the choice school after the Sec School posting result is out, I can briefly explain here.

When your child put in the 6 choices, MOE would post your child to the school that your child meets the criteria, ie COP, vacancy of the school. If your child did not get in to his choice school, he can choose to appeal. Appeal is done after the Sec School posting result is out (on or after 22nd Dec for this year). You need to go to the school you wish to appeal, submit the form and necessary documents. Depends on individiual school, their requriements are different. Eg. P5 and P6 result slip, special talent certificiate .... While your child is being put on waiting list, he still needs to report to the sec school posted by MOE on the reporting day (23rd Dec for this year). However, you can hold on the buying of books and uniforms first. Usually, if your child is being selected by the appeal school, he would need to go for interview. Then they would inform you if succesful or not after the interview. Appeal and acceptance process can last till 1st week of January. I have seen cases where appeal schools called up successful students on the 31st Dec and some, even on 1st week of Jan, when the students already started school in their posted schools.

        Hope the above helps. πŸ˜„

And if appeal successful, need letter of release from the allocated sec sch, right?

Yes, wear primary school uniform first. There are alot of such cases. They only buy uniform when their appeals are officially replied (successful or not).

Most of the time, the appeal process can be up to 1-2 weeks. Sometimes, it can be after 1 or 2 terms (students migrate, drop out, transfer to private school, etc).

In my own form class this year, I had 7 cases of transfer out. Then another 7 transferred in. This was during first 2 weeks of school. All transferred out/in at different timing.

After that (during June), 2 left (1 transfer, 1 migrate) and another 2 came in.

Thank you. Transfer in June is too long. If such case, parents would have bought uniforms & books. Maybe some books are same.

If can transfer to their 'dream school', they wouldn't mind paying another $100-200 for new uniform & new books, right? I know if I'm the parent, I wouldn't mind πŸ™‚

Most of them have similar books anyway.

I think it is better to buy the uniform, or the kid will look weird and feel out of place.

Eh, I included new textbooks if the books are different πŸ™‚
Definitely will be above $100 πŸ™‚

I knew of a student, bought all the books and uniforms on 30th Dec, since she thought, till then, no news from the appeal school would means no news. In the afternoon, she received call from the appeal school, saying her appeal was successful and to report on 31st. She spent about $400 on the uniforms and books of the posted school. 😞
