Hi parents, I'm RSS. Just registered myself on this forum. Can't believe it, i'm kiasu too! I have been following this forum on this topic closely as my DS is involved. He is from GEP too and had got SA1 results in the range of 79.6 to 79.9%. He is a platinum holder for SMOP. I called RI to check and they said no point to round up figures on the on-line application, they will take the raw total from the report book and DS still has to take GAT. Am waiting for email on GAT. heard some people received GAT email but i believe they are under the sports domain. Anyway DS also applied for ACSI and NUSH. Let me know if anyone received email on RI GAT. Thanks
:welcome: rss!
you have made the right move by coming into this forum..hahaaaa

I do not agree that ACSI do not belong to the same league as RI or HCI. Yes it has the lowest cut off point for S1 but that is for their o level track. Their IP track cut off point is much higher. They are also the world top 3 IB schools. 1/3 of the IB cohort got 40 points or higher qualifying them to ivy league uni and Top UK uni.

NUSH is a good school. I know of 2 pupils who got in through DSA last year and they are all enjoying the schooling experiences in NUS high, their PSLE results were all above 270. All of them have no regrets choosing NUS High over RI.Yeah good luck to every one.
Initially our main aim was for NUSH cos RI is really too far.
But just found out recently that with the new circle line completed in Nov, it takes only 8 stops from Clementi to Marymount and a bit of walking to reach RI. Should cut down travelling time by a lot.
Of course NUSH is still much nearer but the DSA process is much tougher too. -

Their IP COP is still low comparatively to RI's 259 and HCI/DHS/NJC's 257. ACSI's COP for IP is generally around 254 or 255. I guess RVHS's is the lowest then? -
The various tests at HCI are meant for mainstreamers. Suppose they are meant to safe guide that these pupils if selected could cope with the challenge in this school next time and/or meant to help the school select the talented ones. They includes GAT, Maths Olympiad and writing in both languages. Unlike in most DSA schools, applicant just neet to pay and go ahead an attempt. In most cases, the school make a lot of money. But it is different in HCI, applicants do not need to pay unless they are shortlisted. Not all applicants will be shortlisted in phase 2 as my ds and many classmate went through it last year. But for GEP student who have gone thru P3 GE screening and GEP syllabus training, they do not have to be tested again if they could pass the GEP exam. Heard GEP English is sec school standard and they do tough maths …etc. Are all this privillege to them?

ACSI is not in the "A" league as that of HCI and RI, so difficult to do apple to apple comparison. Wonder why ACSI switch to the "IB" league?

Even though, heard their dsa very difficult to get an offer and their dsa charge is the highest. -

I agree w you apronmama...though mainstreams students also need to study very hard and do alot of assignment in preparation for the psle...but gep curriculum are more in depth and need a lot of thinking and
and :scratchhead: ....so I think is not very fair to say that it is a 'privilege' to 'most ' of them.... plus they took the same gep exams so is quite safe to base on their gep results as the basic judgements...

For me the main concern about ACSI is still the background of the students.
Just don’t want my boy to be influenced by all the rich kids.
Heard story that some have bodyguards on duty outside the classroom though I take it only as a joke. -

Certainly privileged. Bc they are naturally gifted. The \"gift\" given to them is already a privilege not given to other non-gifted kids. Already born with extra blessings, mah.
