So the question does exist: how GEPers get recruited into CHS, SJI, SCGS, MGS when they can't get an offer in RI/HCI/NY/RGS and the DSA thingy is all over if they had not applied DSA to these schools? Via PSLE T-score ? and what if they don't meet the COP? Do MOE post them to these schools?

I know of a GEP student who wasn't successful in DSA and didn't do that well in her PSLE and ended up in a neighbourhood school. But she's very happy there now because she's shining there, topping her cohort instead of languishing in the background if she had gone to a top IP school.

So if your results aren't good enough you don't get posted to SCGS/MGS/SJI/CHS etc but it's not the end of the world.

You are correct! In many instances, better to shine in an ordinary school than be an also ran in a top IP school. Is only PSLE, the first stage only, really nothing to lose.

My opinion is at this early stage, for high achievers, better to be developed by another good school than to be a member of the base in a top school.

I think I know why DS’s school the average for SAI is so low cos they add in social studies and divide by 5.

Do not fret if your child couldn’t make it to top schools either thru dsa or centralised posting.

Is still early, ultimately is A-level/IB/Diploma results that really matter definately not PSLE hor!

Then that is not fair right? Can't you re-calculate it yourself using 4 subjs during submission ? But wat if SS score is high? then submit using 5 subjs?

But can't be so many GEP stu/quote]
dents with SA1 ave above 80 per year right ?
Apparently DS's school only one this year.
So from 9 centre at most maybe 50 ?
Do you mean they refer to P6 SA1 result only? How about those who got P5 overall > 80% but P6 SA1<80%? Or P5 overall <80% and P6 >80%?

The DSA schools will calculate the percentage themselves based on their requirements so no worries about unfairness.

When we were filing up RI application form on line, we were asked to fill up only 4 subjects minus SS. Then the system automatically did the calculation for us showing the average % for the 4 subjects for each yr from P4-P6. I doubt RI take into account the grade for SS when computing the >80% grade.

It only refer to p6 first combine results which is ca1+sa1. My ds school work out the the percentage for the 4 subjects which are English, CL, Sci and Maths ( exclude HIgher mother tongue if any)

I wrote in to enquire if sa1 is less than 80% will be in wait list this is ri’s reply

"Thank you for the interest in Raffles Institution.

The reviewing committee with be looking at the overall results from Primary 4 to Primary 6, the interview results, the GAT results and all the achievements that he has provide in the application. At RI, we are looking an all-rounder, not someone who is just good in the academic area. Rest assure that we do not just look at the P6 SA1 results to determine the selection process.

Therefore, your son’s music and math talents will be part of the consideration. "
