DSA 2011

RSS, no P6 kids, just secondary school. Mine went through DSA a couple of years ago so I understand the anxiety.

Totally agreed with you. The admin girl at HCI showed neither empathy nor desire to help. What made matters worse was to find out that if you managed to speak to the right person, you can get the date changed! :mad:verykiasu2010:
just feel that the schools whose selection test / camp / interview are 'purposely' uncompromising year after year ...... okay got to make a choice, and it would be much better to choose after the offers are made rather than choosing whose test to forego ......
I used to think it was pure coincidence but may be it's planned so that kids have to make a choice even at the initial stages.
Schools should brief their receptionists/office staff well because the initial impression created there often determines which school the parents are willing to forego if dates clash.
Of course, it is always better to decide on the schools after offer had been made and not which test to forgo. But with clash in test dates, that is always not possible. So you just have to make a choice and pray that your decision is the correct one. -

Hi RSSHi DVL,
Yes i know of 5 kids there in nus high, all enjoy the school very much. Good choice for your ds!
Yes, ds is having fun, at least for the past 6 months. Curriculum is challenging but not too stressful. Becos of small class size, teachers are able to ensure that every student is able to follow the lessons. -
DS took the NUSH selection test at his own school (NHPS).
Saw a lot of students from other schools there as well apart from NHPS students. Some from as far as Catholic High and Nan Yang.
Quite well organised but the released the students rather late around 12.35pm. -
can anyone tell me what is the topic of the free responce writing test in HCI?
-
Can any parents with past experience with HCI DSA please advise what does the languages test consists of? Writing or like MCQ test type? Thanks in advance

Hi my ds just wrote about his interest. The school didn't provide any help in writing the personal statement. Maybe becos he is in GEP and NJC is not among the MOE approved list.
Hi ngbrdad,yukilei:
Finally DS submitted his DSA application for NJC with a 293 words personal statement.
There is some declaration to tick that must pay the $50 fees by cheque or else cannot take the test.
Read before here that can pay the fees on the day of the test itself right ?
what did your ds write about in this personal statement? Does his current school teach him how to write personal statement?
Btw receive the email from NJC already. Cheque for $50 for the test must reach them by 30/6/11
Thks ngbrdad. I think HCI also require the children to write personal statement. So I thought the GE student would be taught how to write. -

Acsi dsa requirement is just hast test and personal statement. Do you have p6 kids?
As for ACSI DSA, interview only when necessary, mainly for those borderline case. -
Interestingly a friend’s son who has sat for GAT for Victoria School and RI this year said that some of the questions are exactly the same.

Strange especially when RI runs their own GAT.
But Victoria School should be doing the GAT from Principals Academy, same as NYGH and DHS, etc. So format slightly different, right? 100 questions in 1hr - unlike RI's.
