Hi

To those who has DS or DD taken the NUSH first round of selection test, may I know what is the test about? It is a math and science olympiad type of test or it is like HAST test.

How your DS & DH find the test? Easy or difficult as compare to SMOPS RIPWMC, NOPS?

My DS did not apply for NUSH. Just cusious.

      Thank you

Both the selection tests for RI and HCI fall on the same day i.e. 9th July 2011.

Does anybody know whether there is any alternative if one is being selected for both? Is it possible to ask the person-in-charge to arrange the selection date on 23 July(RI) instead?

        Hi

I understand that the HCI selection date for DSA 1 has only one date which is 9th July, so this is not possbile to change. As for RI Math domain half day selection test, is there another test date? If yes, then it might possbile to request to attend another selection date for the math domain. However, to what I know, every domian only has one selection date.

        Good luck.
Am in nus high for test. School is very organized, parents are barred from entering the registration area. Judging by the numbers of pupils, easily over a thousand and they have quite a few other test venue. Applicants number likely to exceed last year number of 2000+ as 5000 pupils attended the open house. Hopefully ds will do well.

Had the same experience last year, very well organised. What impressed me most was the registration was run mostly by the students.

Anyway, good luck to your ds!

Wow! Thousands of Applicants! Very Stiff Competition.
How Many Vacancies R there for S1 next year?
ALL the Best to Your ds, RSS!
Yearly NUS High takes in about 180+- applicants. Approx 90% by DSA and 10% reserved for after PSLE score.

Does anybody know the number of vacancy for this year's NJC DSA? Thanks.

I think they have it capped at around 200. Originally I heard that this year's 2011 sec 1 would be increased to the maximum (for cohort) of 250, but from the actual intake of students that they accepted eventually (from both DSA +S1posting), it still ended up around 200 only.

There are only 200 students per level at NJC? So only about 5-6 classes per level?

Actually, this is one point I find very attractive about NJC. Small class size & cheap school fee compared with some indept school 😉

There are around 8 classes each level. It's a nice cosy school environment.

Phankao, cosy environment indeed. Only 20+ per class. Are the kids randomly assigned to their classes in Years 1 & 2 or are they assigned based on ability?

For those keen on NUSH, here are some information for sharing.

My DD is in current 2011 cohort of 140 which is inclusive of PSLE posting (111 B +29G). Their max intake per year is 170 , DSA 90% or 153 COs and a fixed no on WLs. Only 10% or only 17 placing thru PSLE posting. Last year COP 264. DR Hang emphasised intake are primarly DSA COs/WLs. Those on WLs are as good as COs since a large no of NUSH COs opt for other IP schools.

The yearly cohort size has been between 140 - 150 for the last 3 years.

Random, I think. Bc they still have subject banding within the class for some subjects like Mother Tongue and Math.
