If I didn't remember wrongly, the kids have to be enrolled in an IP school. So, they wont be under 'O'lvl track.....
EESIS (Entrance Edusave Scholarships for Independent Schools) is for independent schools, which can be IP or O level schools. -
Blur Dad:
Hi Blurdad, I understand where you're coming from. All the best to your ds in DSA.jtoh:
Hi blurdad, if your son's Mandarin conversation skills 'cannot make it', do you think HCI is a wise choice for him?
Hi jtoh
Good question. Attended HCI open house, quite impressive. My son quite \"OK\" with it.
Base on different choices available, not many to choose from. He wants to go to boy's school. So for IP/IB, the choices are RI, HCI and ACSI. His CA1+SA1 result not so good, below 80%, chances to get CO from RI is quite low. As for ACSI, not that easy also, ACSI only takes in 90 boys for DSA to their IB programme. Take into consideration that they have to give priority to ACS(P) and ACS(J) boys. The other choice that should not miss is HCI.
I remember last year that there was one parent feel regarded and had to say sorry to his/her DS for not applying HCI as DS could not get CO from RI. Most of his/her DS's classmate were awarded CO and he is one of the fews who did not get any. So quite a greate impact to him.
You might say that this would encourage DS to work harder for the PSLE and get good result to enter his dream school via S1 posting, I think my DS is not that type and do not wish my DS has to go through this. So should not miss any chance.

SCGS, MGS, SJI are all independent schools offering O level track. -

GE students get something different although the amount is the same $200 per month. As long as a GE student maintain his GE status in secondary school with a SBGE on the MOE recognised GE list, he or she will be eligible for the grant. -

It's not a separate grant nor does it have a different name.

Wah...a bit too chim for me (esp I m pretty sotong)...I have copy the following from MOE website:
The EESIS are awarded up to the top one-third of the total number of Secondary One pupils admitted to all Independent Schools (IS), based on their PSLE results.
The EESIS is also awarded to P6 GEP pupils who are Singapore Citizens and who
meet the P6 GEP promotion criteria, and
are enrolled in the IP in an Independent School at S1.
...when they say \"are enrolled in the IP\" means 6 yrs leading to 'A' lvl right?
.....so confusing
-
cylg:
IP is 6 years, correct. But if you're an ex-GEP student who's opted for MGS secondary, you'll get EESIS if you're in the SBC programme because that's their SBGE programme. So it doesn't have to be IP (ie 6 years). Unless MOE's changed their criteria starting this year with all these new schools offering IP.Wah...a bit too chim for me (esp I m pretty sotong)...I have copy the following from MOE website:

btw, IP means Integrated Programme so can lead up to A levels or IB. -

During the talk by GE department to P6 parents they mention something like if the child decides to continue and eligible for SBGE, then there is some grant. If the child does not want to continue with GE but eligible for EESIS, then can get EESIS.
It was never mentioned about PSLE score of 260 and above to qualify for the grant.
Maybe it's EESIS after all but they have different criteria for GE students ? -
ngbrdad:
Yes, it's EESIS but different criteria for GEP vs mainstream. GEP students will be given EESIS provided they meet the promotion criteria for GEP in secondary school and they enrol in an independent school offering an MOE-approved SBGE.jtoh:

Non-Singaporean GEP students are not entitled to EESIS but will be offered some other grant whose name I can't recall now. Maybe that's what you're referring to?
All the criteria for EESIS and other scholarships you are entitled to will be spelt out in your PSLE results slip.
