My attempt to put anxious minds at ease…

Last year at RI GE interview, my son’s group (exempted from GAT) was also told to study hard for PSLE. The "study hard for PSLE" message was repeated in the CO as well as Children’s Day letter! Guess this is consistent with RI’s tradition of pursuing excellence in everything the boys do. Just my $0.02 worth.

According to my DS, two of his group mates didn't turn up for the NUSH camp. He said the name sounds foreign. So maybe foreign applicant who decided not to continue their applications.

Just felt it was such a waste. Not sure whether they paid up for the camp or not.

Just cusious what do the boys do during the camp? tough? Like RI/RGS test, which is out of the world questions?

Any interview after the camp? or this is the last round?

5 sections, one to write English compo. one experiments each on Physics, Chemistry and Biology. and one math section.
More like testing their observation, co operativeness etc. Not really testing on depth of knowledge of the subject.

This is already part 2, so should be last round.
But heard may have interview for borderline cases.

Observed that the selection camp for NUSHS is very international, quite a number of Koreans, PRC (alot), Indian, Nepalese (?). Felt so foreign when I was there.

There'll be even more foreigners in the higher levels - Koreans, PRCs, Vietnamese...

Thought I saw quite a lot of Indians and PRCs, some Indonesians too. Not sure considered as locals or foreigners though.

So only Science and English sections? Won't that be biased against those who are really strong in Math?

Selection tests, be it today, tomorrow or week, it's the same test, same experiments, how strange 🤷

                      Hi Maisu,

DD's classmates says the same thing.
Not sure the Eng and Math domain are having the same thing too.

Any idea when the results will be out?Thank you.
                      Lenny08

My DD classmate said the experiments is tough, btw it is the same as the previous one.

                      [/quote] :salute: Hi Maisu & Lenny08
I am new here...hope u dun mind me interrupting. I wld like to know what are roughly being tested in the Science domain actually? My sister's kid who will be in P6 next year is keen to try under the Science domain & wld like to know what are being tested. Hope u dun mind sharing.

My DD took part in the English domain @RGS today. After the test, while chatting with a parent, I realised that the topics tested as compared to the previous test, were different. Today my DD was tested as follows:

(1)Construct a story from a picture given. DD said it showed a lady in a wedding gown with a woman standing behind her. They are both looking at a man beside a horse and dark clouds loom above.
(2)Discuss within the grp on a poem entitled 'The Student'
(3)Write an essay on : State the possible consequences of instant fame to a teenager.

Hope the above would be able to help parents who are trying to prepare their kids next year & are following the forum. 😄

Ds too tired to tell me about the experiment. Only said that in the English section they were required to write an essay of at least 100 words in 30 minutes. Question is like if you can go back to the future, what would you do to change the current world. There is another question too, which I can’t remember. They are allow to choose one out of the 2 questions. However, he remember the food part, lunch was fried rice with cheese tofu and other stuff and tea was a chicken pie with chocolate eclair. They were also given a nice huber sack and a water bottle. Camp t-shirt is cool, very well done, took photo but not sure how to post it. Must learn from vlim.
