DSA officially over for my DS w RI’s interview closing the chapter yesterday. A big thank you to all parents and their DS for sharing in every way you did. DS told me that his group was asked many questions. He could only remember these few …

      1) rate nervousness, why?
      2) present project
      3) rate how badly you want to come to RI

Sorry did not manage to squeeze much out of him as he still had school work to finish aft the interview.

      Hope e little helps …

My son had his RI interview today.

I was fussing over his crumpled school uniform at the waiting are till I saw two of his classmates come in wearing PE attire, and the so so clean kind, and I sighed and just let him be.
Today quite a few groups with 2 candidates only, my DS was in one of them. So the two of them had to talk more.
At the end of it, they said the usual study hard for PSLE thing.
Funny thing is they also reminded the boys that if they really want to go to RI, just put RI as first choice even if they are on the wait list only.
As they say there is nothing to lose. If they have a CO from elsewhere and not successful for RI , they will still go to their CO school.

With this I take it as they were hinting to the boys that they are on the WL.

Any one else's boy got the same remark from the interviewers ?

The boys turned up for interviews in PE attire? Oh dear!

It's true, there's nothing to lose if you put RI as first choice even if it's a WL because if the kid can't get into RI, he'll be given his 2nd choice CO.

        Hi jtoh,

are you saying that as long as a child has gotten CO fm 1 sch, the place will be reserved for him even though he did not put the sch as 1st choice? I thought if I put RI (WL) as 1st choice, but \"B\" (CO) as 2nd choice, \"B\" sch will give my place to \"B\" (WL) boy since I did not put \"B\" as 1st choice?

          Hi All,

I remember some representative from a school mentioned that when one gets a CO from a school, they are required to accept or reject the offer by a certain date, way before the PSLE results are released?
she also went on with an example scenario ..... if you are offered CO from school A (dream school B did not offer CO), if you accept the CO from school A, upon release of PSLE result....you realised that you are actually good enough for school B, you will not be allowed to change from A to B....as that is not fair and has been happening in the past years and they are making sure that doesnt happen anymore. Otherwise all the work and effort the school puts in to access the DSA is just redundant and pointless. this is also to help the schools have a clearer picture of the vacancies left for the later stage.

          It does make sense somewhat....
not sure how much they are following with this rule but it was definitely something mentioned and was in a very serious reminder. serious enough for me to drill it in my head....being so forgetful usually...hahaha[/quote]I've already known 1 boy who had accepted B school thru DSA, but his parents managed to change him to A school after PSLE result without informing the boy. But of course, the boy has no regrets to be in the A school now.

That's happening more and more because of the kiasu mentality of parents, despite MOE's efforts at telling parents that your DSA selection is final. Until MOE and the schools actually put their foot down and refuse transfers, the practice will probably continue.

that is also because the schools involved are so willing to facilitate the transfer process in order to take in high scorers.

i am no longer an anti-transfer due to the above, what can I say ? 🤷 🤷
