DSA 2011

it seems you are referring to RI's DSA as quoted above .... for which case each subject is a DSA domain by itself.HyperKiasu:
DSA is for those who have exhibited exceptional ability in a particular academic domain, sport or aesthetic field over and beyond that of their peers. So if your child is planning to apply for DSA under Math domain, then of course Math Olympiad results are very important. If not, then it's not important. It's nice to have and may add on to the portfolio but not that important. What's important is to excel in the domain you have applied under, be it English, HCL, etc.
market recognize platinum winner for MO demonstrate exceptional abiltiy for the math domain. how about HCL? need to show something in the 写作比赛 or 演讲比赛? can any parents share successful case of HCL DSA ? (never realize before HCL can be used for DSA)
TIA
each year there is about 70+ MO platinum which seems to RI is an ability in Math but not exceptional nor beyond their peers ..... because their peers are getting platinum ...
using CL/HCL for DSA is not unheard of -- NYGH and HCI accept DSA candidates under bilingual talent
i was reading jtoh's quote in thread \"2012 PSLE discussion & strategy\" and as i never came across b4 HCL be used for DSA so i post the query here.....
so there are really successful billingual DSA-ed candidates.
Just curious to know how do they assess them, what is the benchmark? e.g, published novels at young age? :? :?
for maths domain, though platinum can't gurantee DSA, but at least those candidates have to show something in competition be it SMOP or IMSO or other well recognized MO competition. -

project work, talent camp, during which write report and present papers in both languages

Just cusious to find out, has anyone recevie any acceptance calls, emails or snail mails from RI for the "Supplementary Intake"?
I remember last year there were students with high PSLE score receive acceptance call the next day after they submitted the application even they were already accepted by other schools via DSA.
Anyone? -
Hi HyperKiasu, there are some primary offered bicep programme (bilingual) starting from P4 and in P5 the school will nonminate some to attend the talent camp organize by HCI. During the camp, HCI will nominate a handful of candidate and selected them as camp leader for the following year camp(ie the child will be in P6) and act as group leader for the P5 group. This group of pre-selected boys will be very high chance for the successful DSA.
From my understanding, those children who attend bicep programme and pass the DSA critieria will usually be offered a CO or WL. Attending bicep programme is just an entry criteria but to clear the DSA test and interview are the most important factors for DSA. -
Hey just asking, one of my friend's daughter wants to appeal to a school. It is possible to appeal to a school if u are like 30 marks away? :yikes: But kind of a just above average CCA awards, CCA leader and no academic achievement?

No chance, unless the girl has exceptional CCA abilities like she's a national athlete, gold medallist etc. In which case she would probably have been accepted at the DSA stage already. -
