Verykiasu2010, are your ds n his classmate in gep? My dd is from mainstream.

They were from mainstream class. Out of 42 kids, about a handful did not get DSA offers. Okay, they are the \"best mainstream class\" with many kids outperforming the GEPpers. lowest t-score for the class was 249 excl higher chinese

it is a misconception that math will be more competitive or other domain are less competitive. Kids and parents carry with them this misconception and hence the number of applicants under science, EL, and MT domain are pitifully few who made it into the second round - literally just a handful while for math may be at least 30 or more who made into to second round

another classmate of my DS \"schemed\" to apply under MT domain in RI came out very demoralised because the questions were really out of the world type - he is now in HCI. same for math - the questions were very very challenging - at least for RI's math selection test under the DSA. Platinum from SMOPS is no guarantee

Math is the most competitive domain because there are a lot more kids applying through this domain. So many kids these days take MO competitions.

sadly but true.....maths doman is VERY competitive,
if no gold or platinums, hard to be selected.

Yes, even gold doesn't assure you of DSA.

heard that if one has gotten platimum, very high chance when DSA in NUSH.

My daughter scores about 90 in English ( P5 and P6 CA1). She was 1st in the level in P5 and participated in the inter-school debate but her team did not win. She won a silver in maths olympiad. Her maths results in school is around 96. Should she apply for RGS DSA or just focus on PSLE? She wants to apply through english DSA. Can anyone advise me on whether she stands a chance.

No harm trying. In my opinion, top students should apply DSA to their dream school only. If can't get in through DSA, then focus on PSLE result.

Hi I am a newbie! Wonder if anyone can enlightened me roughly what will be tested if my dd is to try for RGS DSA for English dormain? I understand that one has to go thru 3 rounds including the GAT, wonder if thats true?
