The POWER of KSP... :lovesite:
Came across a parent reading this website during the tea reception :yikes:TREX8:
Congratulations to Pinky88, realwhiz and DaddyDaddy on receiving the reassuring news from Mdm Heng today!
Looks like our DDs will end up being school/class mates next yr. I feel so assured leaving my DD in the capable hands of Mdm Heng. -

Anybody with news and feedback from NUSH tea today ?
update on NUSH tea:
briefing by P & VP largely marketing exercise, talked a lot about the competitions that NUSH kids have won, the international summer programme link-ups with prestigious varsities abroad, and assurance that kids will be exposed to a well-rounded education without the stress of national exams. Some parents were crowding around the P at tea break in the hall, but I didn't join in, so maybe other parents can share about what they heard.
personally i think talking to the students will give you a better idea of school life there. What we heard during the open house was re-affirmed: students there don't go for tuition, whatever they don't understand, they will ask their teachers or seniors for help. I asked a Y4 girl how many percent of her classmates have difficulty coping, and she was stumped for an answer. To her, it's not a common problem.
There are non-science activities going on in the school too, with a pretty active writers' circle and pretty good school orchestra.
DD is sold on going there. I think like many parents, we also worry about whether it is too early to specialise. But i guess for some kids, it's not what is taught but HOW it is taught that makes a difference. Just hope that we have finally found the right fit for DD. -

:thankyou: for sharing. Wonderful that NUSH exposes their students to non-science activities too.
Glad to hear your DD likes NUSH. May she find her niche in science there. :celebrate: -

But i guess for some kids, it's not what is taught but HOW it is taught that makes a difference.
Very true and totally agreed!
One of the sessions on the lesson preview at this station for Maths on the \"geometrical properties of circles\" was awesome and eye-opening!
They taught us some basic geometrical properties of circle by proving that the angle at the centre equals twice the angle at the circumference as well as using the this proof as a precursor to prove the other geometrical properties of circle aided by computer stimulation and overhead slides. Explanations given were very clear and easy to understand.
Other stations show-casing Science topics like Physics, Chemistry and Biology were also equally impressive.
The rest of the stations involved languages (English. Mother Tongue and Foreign), humanities, Da Vinci programme where they taught us how to assemble our own \"Yo-Yo\" and took it home. From here, we learnt that even making a simple toy like this required not only good hands but also attention in details and patience.
The other station was on student development at their concourse level 3. -

Which school are you refering to? -
Hi sunflowermom, tinkerbelle, KSP and RGS DDs, sorry no offence, it were merely base on my personal view and feedbacks/comments given.

Thanks to all parents on your personal thoughts. RGS was struck off from my list but it is back on this morning. Thanks!!
So....your DD will accpet the CO from RGS?
Vanillacake,
She was one of the few who has not heard from RGS. So i think \"Pao Tang\". I believe she can get reasonably good results from PSLE. But I'm still unsure of which school she should apply.
In another post, i was asking opinion that should School A is a choice school that did not give CO. School B a backup school that give CO. Should i just give up everything and wait for her PSLE result and apply School A.
Basically my DD has not heard from any school. -
Lynn2010:
That's a tricky situation to be in. If School A is the school your dd wants to go to, and you are confident that she should be able to get in via her PSLE results, I say just wait for her PSLE results. If your dd does receive a CO from School B and she puts School B as her DSA choice with the intention of transferring after the results, be prepared that it'll be a real hassle. You can read past year's posts for details from parents who went through it.

There's also the question of doing the honorable thing of sticking with your DSA choice after you've made it. (I think you mentioned it in your original post). Choosing a DSA school only to transfer out is denying other students of a place in the school. While this practice is officially frowned upon, it has been practised and there's talk that it may be clamped down. So you also don't want to be caught in a situation where this might be the year that schools decide not to allow any DSA transfers. -

No, dont think it is my post about the honorable thing. though i think so.

Thanks for your thoughts. I may take the risk as i'm pretty confident that she can score good marks. I will think about it. My only concern that there is always a chance that her MT pulls her down. 25% of the time her MT can go into a B grade (roller coaster between an A* & B - unbelievable). Thanks anyway
