This question may have already been answered somewhere but this tread is far too long for me to search for the answer. Can anyone enlighten me on the below :

If a child is accepted by a school via DSA but the actual PSLE result falls way below the COP of that school, will he still accepted by that school?

Once a DSA CO is given, the child just has to achieve a PSLE score allowing him to study in Express stream. This is usually taken to be 200. (This is the case in most schools unless otherwise indicated in his letter of offer).

      Thanks a lot.

After reading the thread, it seems like 80 is no longer the magic number for RI.... Am now thinking, if my DS were to score <80% next year, might advise him to forget abt RI DSA. Instead try ACI since we're staying in the west. I remember someone mentioned that ACI only takes in 90 students from GEP, am I right? How many GEP students are they in AC primary? Am just wondering since every boy wants to go RI, maybe will stand better chance in ACI & HCI. :scratchhead:

          Just apply lah.
Ri's DSA is the one favouring GE among the schools.
ACSI requires everyone to take the HAST.

:gloomy: Aiyo...today is such a wet & gloomy day!

Just recvd rejection email from RGS.. Scratching our heads why DD is rejected...DD is a mainstreamer, top gal in a neighbourhood sch, scoring above 90% since P1, has UNSW High distinctions & other awards, won at least two individual trophies for National Competiton in sports since P4. During the last interview with RGS, DD felt she had done her best & her classmate who was in the same interview as her, witnessed the interviewers being visibly impressed with DD & she congrats her for her superb eloquence & quick thinking. DD as usual in her humble self dismissed the praises.

😄 Luckily, we hv set our eyes with NYGH ( of which a CO has already been recvd :rahrah: ) way before & there was just no deep sense of disappointment but full of WHYs huh? :?

Yes, agreed. For this year DSA to RI, >80% is not a magic number anymore. It is getting more and more difficult. Quite a few of my DS classmates who has scored >80% did not received any news yet. They are getting very worries. Two of my DS classmates who score 79.xx% awarded WL. I guess for this year, a lot students scored above 80% for SA1.

For ACS(P), there 2 classes of GEP students. To my understanding, 99% of the ACS(P) students will apply for ACS(I) DSA, but not all the students are awarded CO.

but if the chance is not there, then it's like wasted leh.. cos I also don't want my DS to apply too many DSA.

if your DS mark is less than 80%, then have to do GAT, and he may do well in it, and get an interview and get in or get a WL ...... and even if not successful eventually, you stand a better chance on appeal after getting PSLE scores, if it is marginal from cut off score. I am speaking as if it is a case of die-hard RI fan

Just apply for the ones that you and DS will definitely accept if give one and only CO for that school.

Thks Blur Dad. So with 2 classes, the most, they'll have 50boys. So even if all are awarded CO (which quite unlikely), still have 40 place left. Given that ACI is not hot favourite like RI, HCI & NUSH, maybe there'll be lesser GEP boys applying for ACI?? so better chance??? :scratchhead:

Yes and No, ACS(I) is not as hot as RI, HCI and NUSH, but they have to take care of the main steamers from ACS(P) and ACS(J) as well.
