think what phankao was saying is that \"discounted\" in terms of the absolute percentage figure.....

extracted fr DHS website
Students who attained 85% or higher score
(or 75% or higher score for Gifted Education Programme students) for average of P5 Overall and P6 Mid-Year Examination or its equivalent.

But you can't compare mainstream and GEP exam standards. That's why I said you cannot call it a discount. A GEP student who scores 75% in a GEP exam is probably capable of scoring 85% in a mainstream exam. You can't compare apples and oranges and call it a discount.

precisely they are diff exams, so that's why there's a NEED for \"discount\" lorr..... ๐Ÿ˜‰
Discount is not the right word lah.

What about DHS ? What is their cut-off for GEP ? Should also include them if <80% ?

yes, do consider DHS for DSA. It is a good school and the DSA process is not complicated for GEP students.
Just fill in the DSA form. No interview for my son last year
. You can visit the school open house next year and get the DSA form. If I did not remember wrongly, I think the requirement for GEP overall is like 75%.

Thatโ€™s where \"the problems\" lies, DHS u heard that ..... ๐Ÿ˜‰

Most Gep pupils would apply for DSA to DHS, (some even apply to all IP schs, real KS)
even w/o the intention of taking up the offer,
as itโ€™s such a hassle free,
exempted fr GAT and no interviews required, so why not ??
their applications take up the slots of the DSA vacancies,
depriving other applicants who are really keen in their applications.

Shd have brought this issue out to the Pโ€™s attention when met himโ€ฆโ€ฆ.
Actually I feel that not many GEP students apply DSA to DHS. Last year, I think only less than 5 in my son school applied. I feel that DHS is a good school, GEP students should really consider going there if distance is not a problem. ๐Ÿ™‚

Even in this thread, I think not many GEP students applied DSA to DHS.

Hi Augmum, you should not ask the P to make the DSA process difficult for the GEP. Instead you should come often to the DSA thread and promote about DHS. ๐Ÿ˜„

It's true there are some kiasu GEP students who apply to several schools without the intention of taking up the offer. And when DHS makes it so easy for them, why not? The problem is DHS is happy to welcome them. Maybe if DHS made it harder for the students there would be more vacancies available for the mainstreamers. But wait a second, doesn't DHS set a limit on the number of GEP offers they make?

i have no exact figure for the limit of GEP offers, was told only for the total DSA avail vacancies.
i choose t o believe that the freeing up of slots would make a diff esp for those borderline cases.....

thats' why we heard P of NYGH asking parents to inform her shd the successful applicants not taking up the offer.

I wonder if DHS attracts a lot of St Hilda's and Tao Nan GEPpers?
