DSA 2011

rylee:
Hi Brenda, after a long wait, we finally received the rejection letter from DHS. So our only choice is to a accept the co from VS ( VCA IP) though my son prefer DHS, but I think VS should be a good enough school for him. Good luck to those still waiting for NJC and DHS reply and congrats to those already got co. Regards.
Hi rylee,
:congrats: to you & DS on your DS's CO from VS. -

This is taken from the MOE website (FAQs for DSA Sec)
agree that parents concerned should bring the matter to MOE's attention, perhaps not on the 'WL' issue but on the issue that NJC did not keep to MOE's deadline of informing parents (regardless of CO or Rej) by 03 sep!
03 sep should not be the last day for schools to send out their replies (for snail mails) but should be the last day for parents to receive their replies!
so if NJC had to send out their letters late due to some reasons, they should at least send emails/SMSes to the applicants by 03 sep!
17. When will I know the outcome of my application to each school?
You should receive a note from the school informing you of the outcome of your application during the Selection Stage by 2 September 2011. The letter will clearly state if you have been given a Confirmed Offer, or been put on the Waiting List, or that you are unsuccessful. If you have been placed on the Waiting List or given a Confirmed Offer in at least one school, you will receive a School Preference Form on 24 October 2011 after your PSLE examinations. You will have to make your preferences (maximum of 3 preferences) from 24 to 28 October 2011.
It clearly stated that the outcome should be received by 2 Sept not mailed out on 2Sept. I personally think that they have flouted the rules!
Agree fully that they have flouted the MOE regulation since the rejection letters were not even sent out yet by yesterday 5/9/11/. -

My son has received a CO from NJC last Fri. The wait was definitely agonizing. The letter says that they have adopted a very stringent selection criteria. I understand from the school that all successful candidates would have received the COs by last Sat. Apparrently the delay for releasing the results was due to the fact that all the papers were sent to Australia for marking. Agree that they should have sent out all sucessful and rejection letters at the same time.
:congrats: Dnls_mum & DS on CO from NJC. :rahrah: -
Yes I really will like to know whether is it \"legal\" for them to do away with WL? Plain inefficiency. Does that mean we have to call MOE?
I was joking with a parent that when the kids go to NJC and are not able to meet their deadlines. They can always say it's okay - neither did NJC! LOL!

check the date of the letter -

If they haven't sent the rejection letters by 5/9/11 how to blame the postal service ? :?

If they have backdated their letter to 2 Sept or earlier, then it’s really bad. MOE instructions said to receive the letter by 2Sept not date the letter to 2Sept or mail the letter on 2 Sept. If they cannot calculated when they have to post out their letter so that it will be received by 2Sept, then something is very wrong.

Several parents have called NJC and they were told that rejection letters would only be sent out this week, so can’t blame the postal service if the letters are posted out after 2 Sep deadline.

for example, the date of the letter can always be dated 2 Sep 2011

nobody can judge whether the letters were dropped into the post box on 2 Sep 2011 or later
they can always blame it on postal delay not within their control, further more, even with proof of posting, there is no guarantee of receipt
no point fighting over timing differences
if a CO is received,be thankful, if a rejection, does not matter if it is received one week later or one day later
of course the NJC processes leave much to be desired, as compared with other IP schools; perhaps those independent IP schools have more resources to deploy in managing the DSA processes while NJC being a government school, as mentioned by some parents, very 'civil service' minded.....it makes be recall my personal comment about NJC long time ago that attracted lots of stones flying at me ...... :rotflmao: -

Ah yes... was it about the Open House?

of course they have very honestly said those letters will be sent this week, so cannot blame Singpost or courier services company
perhaps their (NJC) understanding of the MOE \"rules\" on DSA i.e. para 17 and 18 of the FAQ, is that those are guidelines, not do-or-die regulations, hence so long as they have finally completed the process, that's it, plus minus a couple of days......(\"so what?!\", imagine they say this to themselves!! :rotflmao: )
sorry to the parents who just have to bear with them on this
