DSA 2011

Blur Dad:
my ds told me that if he can score >83%, (as good as your ds), he'll only try 2 sch so that he'll not take up other CO. Trying 2 & not 1 is because there's no guarantee. However, if he gets < 80%, he'll try more since the chance of getting CO is much lower.yukilei:

So is the school tt is Kiasu ...
I think trying for 2 or 3 schools would depend on the kids. If kids like my son only like the 2 schools, probably he will apply DSA to 2 schools. If the kids have not decided which school to go and/or not too confident with his results then maybe. Most likely these gp of kids will go for 3 DSA... Orin mind they have 3 schools which they like but have not decided at this pt of time .. :snooze:
Hi
I think it doesn't matter how many schools you apply. Once your DS SA1 scores <80%, most of the schools (RI/HCI/ASCI) will LIKELY not award any CO, unless there is an exception case (e.g. your DS has won some international awards or has done something really exception and accepted by the school). If below 77%, chances will be rejected.[/quote]Yap, I know. If <80%, then it's hoping to get WL from sch. So if apply more, then hopefully, more WL. Then from the WL, hopefully can convert to CO since based on this forum, it seems like some WL is almost like a CO. -

I know no guarantee even if > 83%. That's why need to apply for 2 DSA. Frankly speaking, I'm not thinking of that particular boy sch. I'm more inclined to the other boy sch. But seems like most of my ds's classmate are into that particular boy sch. So, obviously, my ds hope to follow them lor.yukilei:

The >83% may not be a quarantee also, if you are thinking of that particular boy school most of the boys wants to go to. Your kids got to be an octopus of all trades, some of these may be helpful to increase their chances: prefect, SO/MO high metal winners, leader in their CCA group, high achiever in some sports, music proficiency, number of visits for open house, natural public speaker, etc etc. Do we really have such a perfect kids? :scared: -

That's why I asked my ds Chinese teacher this year since she's been with him for 2 years. I'm :xedfingers: that she'll continue teaching him in P6 as his Chinese has improved under her teaching. I think she's really good.
Hi Vlim, thanks for the feedback. I guess as much that the P6 teachers might not know them that well yet. I will check with his P5 teachers at the end of the year.vlim:
My ds p6 parent teacher meeting was early of this yr. And more or less my ds has set his first choice and second choice. Furthermore, the teacher might not know which school culture suit him right
... Anyway is jmo.. Definitely I think u can seek teachers' opinion or recommendations.. -
cylg:
it's still 80% at this point in time.... hoping they still keep as 80% next year. :xedfingers: However, I quoted >83% because it seems like some children with 80% this year, couldn't get CO. So 80 is no longer the magic number.
Sorry for the consudion PiggyLalala  It's still 80% unless they change it next yr...83% was taken from yukilei's post which also means definitely no need to take GAT tt's all...sorry again :oops:PiggyLalala:
Thought it is >80%, then no GAT. Has it changed to 83%? -

Does \"HD\" (perhaps HD for all subjects) in ICAS help?yukilei:

If there is no such \"perfect kids\", it may be they run thru the list and compare the kids for their limited place allocation. So the more they have the better? If not 83%, say, then above what % of academic result are the list of talent not required for GEP DSA? -
So far, every year, approximately how many GE kids score >90%, how many >87%, >85%% >82% and so on at P6 SA1?

one of my DS classmate has been consistently getting > 90% for his p4 & 5 result. Just heard fm ds that he has gotten CO fm NUSH. He is one of the top 20 in 2011 NMOS. -
