Hi
All of u r so happy to visit HCI and RI. My neighbour’s son got plantimum in SMOPS. However, he is studying in neighbourhood pri sch and his mother doesn’t know English. His sch never arrange secondary sch tour for them. End up he may just go to neighbourhood secondary sch. My dd’s results just normal, not very good leh even she studys in very popular pri sch. End up they may meet in a normal secondary sch. Actually, they are very different. The boy works very hard but without good envirnoment; my girl has very gd sch, but lazy. Now, just see if the boy can go in HCI as he got the plantimum in SMOPS. I feel 很无耐! -

Primary schs don't arrange secondary sch tour for students. But sec sch will go to pri sch to promote their sch. During the day of release of psle results, sec sch students even went to dd's pri sch to distribute brochures. They only distribute brochures, never talk to the students since most of them are too nervous waiting for the results.Hi

For your neighbour's son, if he does well, he can still apply for top schs, it doesn't matter if his mom can't speak English. -

Wow! Is that True? Will be Good if my Gal can be \"In-Time\"!jtoh:
Your dd will be in time for the shift to the new RGS campus.
So she'll have quite a few CCAs to look forward to when she joins.
When Will the Shift to the New Sch Compound be?
Some Parents Commented the Current State of the Sch Compound is Like a ....
Ghost-Town - OLD and Rundown ....
I Suppose Will Need a Lot of A&A before Can Shift in ....
I Spoke to a Very Nice Prefect at RGS yesterday, but she's not Aware of Any Plans yet ....

Your dd will definitely get to enjoy the new premise.

And ALL the Kids will Receive a Thick Booklet on ALL Sec Sch Available to Apply to Later On .... With the Past Year Cut Off Points as Reference ....
And ALL (except those who exercised Confirmed DSA Choice) Can Put their 6 Choices of Sch in the Sec Sch Posting Exercise after the PSLE Results.
As Long as the Child's COP is equal to or above the Chosen Sch, they will get their choice of sch.
So Don't think your neighbour's boy will be left out, as long as he got Good Results in PSLE.

Yes. Primary schools don't arrange tours for students to secondary schools. Although some will arrange for secondary schools to give talks to their P6 students. It's not too late for your neighbour's son to apply for DSA. In any case, if he does well at PSLE he can go any school he chooses.

that it's In-Time ....
By the Way U Got Any News of When they will Shift Over? -
phtthp:
Open Houses are a full school event, meaning everyone is involved. Holding it over two days means everyone will be involved over two days. So next time if your children are in Sec 1, 2, 3 and 4 and have to report to school on Saturday and Sunday for Open House for 4 years, don't complain hor? :lol:maybe Open house one week too long, draggy, and not enough resources. Impact gets diluted!
one day definitely too short, too rush with so many other good schools yet to visit... perhaps 2 days better, over weekend both Saturday and Sunday. Those students who are on duty on Sunday, come Monday can take a rest /school leave.
if spread out over 2 days, better! if visit school A today, tomorrow still got chance to visit school B.
I think for now the best solution for parents is to start visiting Open Houses from P5 so you get to visit more schools. -
My turn for reporting

Impressive with the HCI Parents Symposium. They don't encourage kids to join, which I thought that was good arrangement !
Son followed the tour around the sch compound and was impressed with their big fields (can accomodate up to 4 schs, wow abit Qua Zhang I thought), impressed that they have their own pool (another wow from son), impressed with their Chinese riched Culture CCAs like Sa Judo
The students ushers (heard they are lower Sec students) all very well-mannered and Ju-Gong Ju-Gong when they greet parents, another wow (dh said of course laaa cos they have to
)
One more wow....cos I deliberately approached non-student usher to get some info....and they are just as friendly too and Ju-Gong to me as well.....(dh nothing to say this time)
OH is really good eye-opener and creates inspiration for son, hope he can Jia You Jia You :celebrate: -

So We will proceed with our plan to try DSA for both Sch .... :celebrate: :celebrate:
It's gonna to be busy busy period for your gal and u ...Jia You Jia You from this aunty :celebrate: -
vlim:

vlim, isn't that a GREAT :scratchhead: for you and your ds :celebrate: ....or u can get KSP to help you un- :scratchhead: when the time comes .... :celebrate:
