Sun_2010:
For NUSH - about 90% ( if meet selection criteria)
School / Intake per year / DSA allocationverykiasu2010:
Anyone has the breakdown of places available thru DSA at various schools ?
And how many of these are reserved for GEP students ?
Heard that RI has 200 places, with around one quarter reserved for GEP.
NUSH has around 150 with no GEP reserve places.
What about other schools ?
RI / 450 / 50%
HCI / 450 / 50%
NYGH / 450 / 50%?
RGS / 450 / 50% ?
NJC / 200 / ??
NUSH / 200 / 160 ?
For RI : (about 180 out of 450 are GEPpers, some via DSA, some via S1)
Total intake varies , max is 180
Last year ( current Year1s) intake was about 140 only
NUSH max intake 170 per year
90 % thru DSA (153 CO, WL 15-20), normal Drop out CO > WL
WL as good as CO
10% thru PSLE (17 places, 2010 COP 264)
Last year cohort DSA + PSLE only 140 (111 boys + 29 girls )
No special priviledge for GEP n Olympiads, all must pass thru the 2 rounds testing for MA/SC Screening n DSA Camp -

I think your question should be 'wah so many GEP applied to RI?'Wah RI takes in so many GEP ?
More than half of the GEP boys cohort per year.
they can only take in those who applied and who meet the admission criteria, as in any DSA schools -
Quite a number of GEP boys from ACS Primary went over to RI.
edited to correct info. -
Ha Ha my son and his classmates are really keen on RI even though it’s really far from where we stay.
There are IP schools like NUSH and ACSI nearby but they don’t seem that interested. -
with the Bishan MRT and Marymount Circle line stations, RI (and future RGS) isn’t that far really…more like quite central, plus the MOELC is within walking distance, it is convenient to those taking 3rd lang

Can they apply to stay in the Boarding School in RI? Save travelling time. -
Helping my DS to choose schools for DSA.
So most will apply for around 3 to 4 schools is it ?
For a slightly above average GEP student, how to choose ?
We are thinking about NUSH, RI and another 2 out of HCI, NJC or ACSI. -

Since you've already identified NUSH and RI as your top two choices, apply for those 2. Of the remaining, just choose one. Of HCI, NJC and ACSI, ask him and yourself honestly, which would your ds be happy to attend if given the DSA CO? Do not take it as a second choice that you will consider appealing out of if your PSLE score is good enough to get into RI (in the event you don't get RI). If you don't think you'll be happy attending HCI, NJC or ACSI, don't apply for their DSA. It'll give you a headache later on. -
My ds is really keen on RI as it is where most of his friends are applying too. He quite like NUHS as well and it’s really near and convnient for us.
Just thinking about a 3rd choice and hope to have less stress for him during PSLE. -
HCI, NJC and ACSI are very different schools. One’s a SAP school, one’s IB track. Your ds should have an idea of which one appeals to him better. Go for the one that calls to him most.
