Myanmar maids
-
i think it really depends on the maids…whether they are "automatically" or not. My current one when she started with me does not have a phone as she has broken her previous phone. I bought her a cheap Nokia phone and she was clearly touched by it and never abused it. Recently my friend’s Phinoy maid also willing to "surrender" her phone to my friend during the day time as she said she cannot control herself for using it. I told my friend, your phinoy maid is still good as she is "willing" to do so! rare for phinoys! To me, I feel that sometimes the more you don’t allow them to do certain things, the more they want to do it, so try giving them more "freedom". At least I know my maid wun get herself stuck in the toilets for long time just to use her phone secretly or pretend to go downstairs and buy things just to use the public phones…

That Filipino maid may look quiet, but it’s so true that those who pretend to be pigs can actually devour a tiger. Was too happy and relieved to send her back to agency…then at agency, she gave a prospective employer problems…my mum taught her to cook, so she was easily "marketable". An elderly couple decided to send her for Hepatitis B test. After test, she told agency she wanted to go back home!!! She had to buy own air ticket back for all the trouble she created.

brother has selected a myanmar maid...now learning english and can come only mid dec...can't imagine the madness when she arrives - the baby would be due anytime then and the maid is so green. -
Unfortunately it will take a long time to train a green horn Burmese maid. It took 1 year to train my previous Burmese maid who was a U grad. Problem is they don’t do housework at home.
Tell your brother maid don’t just learn English but help around the house and learn cooking from their sister and mother before they come. -
is the loan for myanmar maids 8 mths?
if the agency want to charge 9 mths, is it fair? -

Don't frighten me. I read from an earlier post here about a Myanmar maid who cannot wash dishes even after some time, and also cannot open a can :nailbite: I have had my share of training maids and enduring their nonsense...so your 'take long time to train a green horn' reminds me of labour pain and engorgement. I pity my mum who has to face her.Unfortunately it will take a long time to train a green horn Burmese maid. It took 1 year to train my previous Burmese maid who was a U grad. any one have info to these:
1. how much does it cost to renew maid’s burmese passport?
2. is there any admin fees at the embassy?
3. is there any other fees?
4. if maid does not intend to renew contract after 1st contract (of 2 yrs), do you still give her the 14-day home leave? -

My Burmese maid is having toothache recently. Suspect is wisdom tooth. Surgery will cost around $500. I called the maid agent, and he says it is the duty of the employer to look after and take care of the maid when she is having medical problem. Has anyone got any suggestions? $500 to spend on a maid on such case is a big hole in my pocket. And the best thing is she is only few months into employment only.
