      Hi altusried,

If you can PM me or something, I will advise what happen.

I am thinking if I should not place my child in another Pat’s schoolhouse centre. However, I am verifying some information at the moment and will not like to disclose too much.

        Thanks Pebblez.

The confirmation fee is a different fee from the deposit. We were planning to let our kid continue next year and had to pay a confirmation fee then.

As it is, we have not decided whether to continue with Pat’s schoolhouse (definitely not Aroozoo though). The Aroozoo principal twists her words too fast and is pretty sarcastic and I think the truth would be pretty nasty for Pat’s Schoolhouse if we should publicise it. I would not want my child to learn under someone like that.

            I must clarify this.

I am not against Pat’s Schoolhouse in general. In fact, I was aware that academically, Pat’s schoolhouse might not train my child as well as some other childcare centres which concentrate very much on academics. However, both my spouse and I agree that their programme is what we wanted for our child. My niece who is the same age as my child can already recognise the alphabets while my child can’t. I have already concluded that for a young child to learn well, 1-1 guiding and teaching is important and that’s what when my child is home.

Therefore, all I ask for is that my child is happy in school, has fun and learn some stuff in the process and that when I am working, I can be sure my child is safe and healthy. Which is why we enrol our child in Pat’s Schoolhouse because we visited one of the centres (not the one our child is in) and were pleased with the general environment and facilities, the food menu as well as impressed by the lady who met with us. In fact, we had no idea the centre our child will be in had bigger and better facilities. It was an additional perk when we saw the facilities later. I liked that my child’s teachers seem to love the kids and can generally connect with them and this is a point my spouse agrees with though I am usually the one interacting with the teachers.

However, circumstances has now changed. No matter how good the programme, how good the teachers, how good the facilities, how good the food menu,if I can have no peace of mind when my child leaves my hands while I am at work, it is not the centre for me. If I really must choose, I would rather put my child in a centre with not so good facility, not so good programme (because I can teach my child myself) with loving teachers (which is what I will stay put in any centres for) and a good food menu and the assurance that I can work in peace. I think my requirements would be considered very simple as most childcare centres should be able to meet them. Anything else above that would be considered perks.

              hi all,

Anyone has any update on the Siglap Branch? Whether things have changed since Pat Koh left Knowledge Universe?

                Hi,

Anyone in Aroozoo, can advise on the kind of food that they served?

                Thanks!

Hi, I will not be responding to any requests as to what made me so upset with Aroozoo centre. As it is, if the principal does not upset me further, I will like to treat the matter as closed. This whole espiosde was decidedly unpleasant to me when all I had done was informed the school on a matter as a precaution for my child’s safety.

All I can say is, I am still supportive of Pat’s Schoolhouse centre in generally, just not Aroozoo.

                    Hi,

Our DS is starting his N2 @ Tanglin branch come 2013.
We observe that the children there are pretty articulate and comfy in home clothing.

He will be in the afternoon 3hr program so I guess the so called enrichment programs will be out of his reach for the moment unless they have slots for the halfday or full day program.

Like all programs, without experienced teachers or leaders to execute them, they will fail to achieve their intended results.

However, what raises my concern(s) are:
                    a) How will the recent departure of The founder impact the organisation? This is the problem when someone so instrumental decides to leave...what happens after that? Who can step in her shoes and carry on the good tradition of 'Celebrating childhood' with innovative practices?

                    b) Bilingual immersion program is one of the Hallmarks of PSH. However, many mentioned that their K1-2s are learning less words as compared to the N1-2s in other preschools...do they have workbooks where one can make a direct comparison?

Generally, we saw a lot of happy faces on the children wrt to the centre visits. Our DS was attracted by the bold visual displays as put up by the teachers. There is also a good balance of play corners and activity stations over @ Tanglin branch.

Yes, the toilet area is a issue of concern wrt the hygiene level but on the whole, we feel relaxed in the white walled interior with clearly demarcated display boards, story books' corner and a myriad of children's work.

Like the initial match of lovers, we will view each other with rosy tinted glasses. It's over time when reality sets in, we start to match our ideals with realities. So, I'm hopefully, but @ the same time prudent over over expecting due to the high fees.

Anyway, the initial impression we get from PSH is the teachers & even the P let children be children and it sure looks like a close family.

So we hope, even with the takeover, (oredi years ago by KU) the sense of congenial famili-ness is still prevalent within the centres themselves.

                    :xedfingers:
                    :snuggles:

                    Cheers!

Looking forward to hear from moms with kids @ the Tanglin Branch.

We also have a good impression over Ms Ada Teo, the P and hope that she can continue to motivate the teachers and inspire them to nurture the children well…

This is old dated news but somehow very disappointing..

Patricia Koh has not retired as she claimed to be doing so, in the communication to the parents. instead she joined G8 group as CEO.

                        http://www.edvantage.com.sg/edvantage/news/schoolnews/1406164/Pat_s_Schoolhouse_founder_is_childcare_group_s_new_head.html

wow, even childcare groups have CEO now. shld be a real lucrative biz.

hanging on in pat's coz of the dedicated and commited principal, Miss Wee. 🙂
