Ever enrolled my child in Halifax centre but pulled out to join the Serangoon centre due to the distance from my residence to Halifax…I must say Halifax is great which is why we sign up immediately on visiting the place…Ada Teo, the principal was also the reason for the immediate sign up…She was friendly, patient and helpful…

        No doubts about Pat’s standards.

          Don't go to ridgewood.

I've sent my girl there for more than half a year now, and i feel so out of touch with what's she's been up to.

When there's a problem that the teachers can't solve, they will call us and complain immediately. Simple things like taking too much tissue from the toilet, and stuffs like that.

Worse, the communication book that they claim to be using is purely for complaints only. For a good half a year, i've received no constructive feedback, just complaints about how my child is not performing in playgroup. If my child is perfectly bright, and not an underperformer, how can they keep complaining? I don't even know a single thing that my girl has done well in class. i don't want her to be growing up in such an environment where teachers only sees her weaknesses.

This is really upsetting for us. We thought the curriculum was brilliant, but unfortunately, the teachers' standards and love for children is clearly lacking.
From my perspective, teachers tend to share or rather feedback what the child did to the parents. Dont think it is because of issues they cant solve...it is always difficult to accept feedbacks, where on the other hand welcome praises with open arms...me too, was a bit pissed when we were told by the teacher what my child did but if they do not feedback on their behaviour in class, who will? In addition, dont think they will malign the child for things that are not done. So i guess we have learnt to accept comments and inculcate to the child that what they have done isnt right...just my 2 cents pls...

            Hi Mummies,

I have sorta confirmed my son's place at Pats Whitley.
            😄

Hi, I have just registered for my son at Pats Whitley as well for next year Nursery. How about you? This centre, being new, is very pleasing and I love the large music room - hope they really make full use of this for the kids!

The past couple of months searching for a play-based pre-school for my son has been extremely stressful. I searched the web and narrow down to Little Skoolhouse, Learning Vision, Kinderland and YMCA. Firstly I was quite surprise at the prices as they are not cheap ie. ranging between SGD700 to SGD1,000. Secondly I was even more surprised that all these places are fully packed with no vacancies at all!

After I gave up on all these places, I decided to go \"up market\" to Patschoolhouse since I thought being \"up market\", surely there must be vacancies right? WRONG! I called Halifax and Buckley and was rejected straightaway due to long waiting list. Was deciding between Pat Mount Emily who is accepting registration now or Pat Whitley which is nearer my place. Finally just go with Pat Whitley who can confirm a place for me already for next year!

During the process of search, I am actually \"humbled\" by the realization that there are so many parents who will spare at nothing to send their children to the very best schools. Indeed money does not seem to be an issue. Compared to my initial attitude that we should not spend so much at the outset until my son has problem paying attention in his \"traditional\" childcare class and I believe learn nothing during the 6 months there, I realise and immensely grateful to Pat's wisdom for setting up a play-based school!

            Enough sharing for now! 😄

I think pre-schools are the only schools where we parents can have a bigger say whether we wish to enrol our child into or not...comes to primary school registration, we will have to depend on sheer luck and hope no ballot to be conducted at the school of choice...

              I agree with fattysuperfamily.

I feel that it’s good that they feedback to you so that we can work together to help the child and to understand them better.
Also it’s better then some CC’s who do not feedback or sometimes just lie their way through.
I really like the idea of them working with the parents to go through each and every of your kids milestone.
They even have a scrapbook with pictures for every single child! through their infant years. Not sure about child care side though.

The good thing about Pats is the shared philosophy across all centres/schools…you can sense the common mindset from the teachers to the principals - they all shared the same directions as of the founder, Mrs Patricia Koh. Not all CCs are able to do that…just my thoughts.

Anyone know why their school holidays are usually not in line with the mainstream? Heard from other kids mummy that that has always been the trend.

like yesterday was teachers’ day which happen to be school holiday for most child care center i known
but Pat’s teacher’ day holiday fall on this friday-3 Sep.

Its not convenient for parents with other kids in primary school.

Anyway, yr gal just enrolled in Mt Emily?
                    Which class?
Mt Emily has very nice teacher but its too "international"
                    Sporeans are a minority there.

                      hi mint,

Buckley has a long waitlist. It is better that you call them as the principal is not very prompt with reply to emails.

                      mint:
I would like to put my son's name down on the waiting list for next year. As I'm not in Singapore right now, I have emailed them (Buckley) a couple of times without any reply. I'd really appreciate any advice based on your experience in making the application as I'm hoping I can do this without having to go in person.

I understand there will be a new PATs branch in Alexandra (former Odessey) and Halifax’s principal will be heading it. Maybe you can try this branch if logistics is not an issue.
