Apart from what has been shared by starlight n sieg, for those who don’t like memorising, kindly don’t go for Bio especially at JC level.

Totally agree. One must have very strong interest or career aspiration in bio to sustain.

This is what I have heard too. My daughter has been canvassing opinions about her subject choice at JC, and she's pretty much decided to drop Bio. Not so much for the memory work, but because the marking schemes seem so strict in terms of the way students have to phrase things. This applies to Sec school Bio too.

Also, if you take more Sc subjects at sec 2, you MAY be allowed to choose Humanities subjects at JC1. If you take more Humanities subjects now, you MAY NOT be able to choose Sc subjects at JC1 bec usually Sc subjects would require you to have a foundation at sec sch.

I dont know the reasons though…

The reasoning is that less foundation is required for arts subjects, and it's easier to catch up in those.

Geo, history, literature require lesser foundation?

Or at least, the foundation necessary is mostly common sense and reading widely which you can pick up in the normal course of life, so whatever new topic you study, you should already have a fair idea of the the basic stuff. Maths and sciences require the student to acquire more technical and specific knowledge. It doesn't mean that it's easier to do well at arts subjects, but it's easier to get started on them.

It's offered at DD's school. I assume all secondary schools would offer it.

Do be aware that if one takes Combined Sc at sec sch, it MAY be challenging to do pure Sc at JC level.
I thought Combined Sc was no more years ago, or at least during my time in sec sch.
