Can't take triple science in ib either. I won't say ib has more subjects. Ib needs to do 6 subjects, including 2 languages, 1 humanities, 1 math, 1 science and another subject which can be humanities, math or science. 3 subjects at HL and 3 subjects at SL. Roughly correspond to A levels. On top of that there is EE and TOK. -

I understand your viewpoint. I am just confused why the course requirements are stated as such. I don't think this is a norm in most overseas uni. If one has a passion in medicine, why would he not choose bio in his formal education but of course you can argue that the realisation is developed only after his A level's. I just feel that priority should be given to those who has developed an interest in this field much earlier in life. For the other group, they may fickle and switch to engineering later?KTKS:
Why pick the less deserving PCM candidates too? They should be chosen for physiotherapy course.
How are PCM students less deserving of medicine? The requirements for medicine course is spelt out clearly in the uni website. Just fulfil the requirements and clear the interviews and all are equally deserving.
Hence they are deemed less deserving.
But I am sure my doubts had been addressed by the faculty committee (whatever you name it) before they draw up the prerequisites. -

Jennifer, your DS1 is in J2 now? What subject is he taking?
Ah boy first choice is to take Physics + advanced Humanities, second choice Physics + Biology.
Chemistry is a compulsory subject (in all other schools as well ?)
The other compulsory subjects included: LA, MT/HMT, Maths (which includes A.Maths), Geography, History, Governance & Society (not sure if this is considered a subject, though it is listed as part of the curriculum).
My elder boy took Physics + advanced LA then as he was not interested in Biology.
Ah boy is not really into Biology, but if he is not offered advanced Humanities, the intention is to take Biology for 2 years, then drop it at JC1 for Economics.
Now that F.Maths and computing science will be offered by the school from next year onwards to JC1, we should keep our options open? -

At sec 2 streaming exercise, all students shld hv an idea on the possible sub combi to take at A level. -

Generally a lot of students n parents do not think so far ahead becos you wont know your true academic strengths and weaknesses at Sec 2.
Subject interests can change at Sec 3 - 4. -

I think should be able to tell the child's inclination by sec 2. With real interest, academic performance can be worked on.
