Not necessary- but it all depends on the school. Some schools mandate double maths, some don't.

It's probably better if you contact the school or ask the teachers, since each school varies with the subject combinations offered. 🙂

PS: But then again, it is usually expected of students who take triple science to be able to keep up with the rigour of double maths, since there's a supposed correlation between doing well in science and doing well in maths (I hope that makes sense!)

Hello… So i’ll be having my streaming this year and in my sch its compulsory to have Chem as one of your Sciences meaning to say the Sciences choices are Phy Chem , Chem Bio or Triple Sci…

My school’s sci curriculum is a bit different from other schools and semester 1 we finished chem (did half of it in sec 1) and started a bit on physics (continuing this semester) & so far i’m doing fine scoring an A in myes and common tests.

The only humans i have a huge interest in and is exceptionally talented in it is geog. lit im definitely not opting as i barely managed to pass this semester. i tend to keep getting bored and falling asleep during history. so does this mean that my only ‘good’ choice is Triple Sci + Elect Geog???

However, i did quite lousy for bio (which was taught in sec 1) or maybe because my studying attitude wasnt really good back then so Im not sure if I shd choose triple sci. But i definitely prefer physics over bio.

SO HOW?!?!? Im really stressed and worried as I do not want to end up in a subject combi I do not like. Please give me advice, thank you:DDDD

You don’t really have a big problem, I think. Whatever you choose, you will have 1 subject you don’t particularly like, which isn’t too bad in the overall scheme of things. As far as I see, you either do:

            - triple science (must take Bio, but no 2nd humanities)
            - Chem+Phys (must take another humanities)
So you have to decide whether taking Bio or the 2nd humanities is going to be tougher, or less to your taste. As you pointed out, your attitude to the subjects may not have been the best, and that is something that you can change to some extent. You never know, once you approach the subject again, with different teachers, different topics, better attitude, you may change your mind about the subject.

Bear in mind that if you drop Bio (or any science) now, you will not be able to take it at A levels; so if there is a chance you may want to offer Bio later, you may not want to drop it now. That restriction doesn’t apply to humanities subjects.

Hi. My DS likes Bio and Phy. But there is no choices of Pure Bio + Pure Phy, nor combine Bio/Phy. Anyone can advice why Chem is compulsory? Thanks.

Unfortunately, Chemistry is now regarded as the most \"foundational\" science as some understanding of chemistry is needed even when studying Bio and Physics. In face, for entry to Medicine in Singapore universities, Chem is now the compulsory science, not Bio. Does the school offer triple science?

usually pure science for those who aspire to go JC, otherwise combined science is sufficient for poly and deem easier to score

                      Hi,

                      Advance consultation required. :?:
I would like to know if anyone tried appealing for double science.

If yes, what kind of reasons can my girl write on the appeal form.
Based on my girl's last results, she has met the overall criteria and science criteria (A1) but math behind by 1% (B3) to A2.
                      Success rate?
                      Please advise.
                      TIA.

If the Maths result is poorer than her usual performance, you probably have a good case since she just missed the cut off. You can say she would like to take A level sciences, and she will work on brushing up her Maths during the year-end (and you should make sure she does!).
