Hi my daughter is in sec2 now. She would like to get into business line, in future. What subjects should she aim for, in sec3.

If she wants to be a business woman or entrepreneur, ensure she is good in Math. Take double Math if possible. I always believe you must be good in arithmetic to be a businessman. If you are slow in calculations, you lose in negotiations.
...

If she wants to be a business woman or entrepreneur, the only thing she needs is to know how to employ the right people.
Everything else is irrelevant, including an education.
Or just be a salaried employee in the strategic marketing or business devt unit of an organisation.

Supposing child is in AEP (Art elective program) in sec sch.

If only have Mother tongue and not HMT, what are the chances of child applying for CLEP (Chinese language elective program) at JC level? Or does CLEP only accept HMT students?

When applying from Sec sch to JC using CLEP, for 2 bonus points, if the JC also has AEP, can child take on CLEP and AEP?

Lets do the easy question first.
Student will need to fulfill https://www.moe.gov.sg/docs/default-source/document/education/programmes/elective-programmes/files/information-sheet.pdf for CLEP.

Next.
Hypothetically, you can do both AEP and CLEP. However, what kind of subjects combination are you looking at if you have to commit to do H2 and H3 Art, H2 CL & Literature and another CL-related subject?

thanks alot!!

clear on the entry requirement for CLEP. A2 if no HMT... ok.

for subject combi in JC, no clues yet... not sure the differences between H1,2,3. Assuming H3 is most intensive? given that there is AEP and CLEP, is there even such a combination? Sounds v intensive coz of the in depth lessons in Art and Chinese...

How does JC subject combi work?

If as a backup, for some reasons decide to choose poly route instead, do some bonus points still come into play? confused on this part.

My girl is keen in the area of Psychology studies, currently aiming to go into JC. I would like to find out which subject selection is good for her. She couldn’t decide which science subjects (Phy / Bio) and also between History and Geography.

Is A Math needed?

Is A Math needed?
These are the admission requirements for NTU's BA (Hons) in Psychology:

For GCE 'A' level certificate holders:

NTU General Admission Requirements
A good grade in H1 Level Mathematics
A good grade in General Paper/Knowledge & Inquiry

It doesn't matter whether she chooses Physics or Biology, History or Geography. Just select the one she's more interested in. Math is a requirement because of the statistical analyses required, so doing A Math would be good. Although you don't need to have done A Math to take H1 Math in JC.

Is it also true to assume that the better schools wills have to set more challenging tests/ exam questions than students from the neighbourhood school? like if a child gets A1 in a subject (neighbourhood school with express stream about 200), the standard could be only like estimated of a B? or C? in a good/ top school? just an example…
