Hi. My DS likes Bio and Phy. But there is no choices of Pure Bio + Pure Phy, nor combine Bio/Phy. Anyone can advice why Chem is compulsory? Thanks.

Unfortunately, Chemistry is now regarded as the most \"foundational\" science as some understanding of chemistry is needed even when studying Bio and Physics. In face, for entry to Medicine in Singapore universities, Chem is now the compulsory science, not Bio. Does the school offer triple science?

usually pure science for those who aspire to go JC, otherwise combined science is sufficient for poly and deem easier to score

Slides 70+ in this sharing did some comparison

            Hi,

            Advance consultation required. :?:
I would like to know if anyone tried appealing for double science.

If yes, what kind of reasons can my girl write on the appeal form.
Based on my girl's last results, she has met the overall criteria and science criteria (A1) but math behind by 1% (B3) to A2.
            Success rate?
            Please advise.
            TIA.

If the Maths result is poorer than her usual performance, you probably have a good case since she just missed the cut off. You can say she would like to take A level sciences, and she will work on brushing up her Maths during the year-end (and you should make sure she does!).

For express : I thought double science is more or less common subject combi, criteria not that high n strict as compared to triple sci requirements . Ur Dc appeal should not be that difficult.

Emoh , combine sci is normally for NA students . Express are strongly encouraged to take pure sciences ( but I do hear of kids who are weak in express maths N science offered combined sci for o level

I am waiting for her result and decide if appeal is required. Hopefully she did better for her SA2 then no appeal required.

For triple sci, need A1 for Math n Sci. For double sci, need A2 for Math n Sci.
If i am not wrong, others will be combined science with Art, D&T or Food n Consumer. They are not what my girl wants. She wants to take pure physics. Got to wait for her results. Just being kiasu so intend to check in advance to prepare myself should i need to submit appeal form. Thanks.
