For motivation of your son i like to share my own experince with you.

first, take time to talk with him ..like what he wants to be and which school he is aiming to enter .
I really started like this.Then make the child feel that mum and dad are really........ really working with him to fullfill his goal.

Spend more time from now.......still it is not too late.
Go one by one analysing which area in the subject is he weak. Take your time . Go through the weak subjects up to this holidays.
My own experince is no point puttting him in tution ....my sons home tution teacher comes and goes.........there is an improment of 5% ...
but if you sit with him it can be 50%
No one will know your son as you.
spend some valuable time for him .
cheer up.
There are a lot of mums like you.

Yes, I agreed with you. We did spend time talking to him which school and score he wants. I even got a latest booklet for him to check the schools.

Now, I will have to spend more valuable and precious time with him to get started for his revision. By going through his exam and test papers...and strengthen his weakness topics fm there.

Will also paste your aim score and school in his room to remind him.

The 2009 booklet will only be given to students in October 2010. From past experience, the cut of points for most schools would usually be released in the MOE website in Feb or later.

Meanwhile, can check out this thread, we are having a hot discussion on this year's cut off points (COP) there! Go to page 1 for the latest COPs but bear in mind they are not the official figures, they are just a guide.

This very true. Let me share my experience with you. My dd till mid year P6 is just about 23*+. I brought her to various independent school open houses in May/Jun. She loved one of them very much. From there, I work out with her how much she needed to score in each subject in order to qualify. I did not provide her with the option of DSA as I felt that she needed to put in effort to prove herself in PSLE. Beside, I don't think I can afford the independent school fees should she not qualify for EEIS but got in through DSA.

She is one person who does not show improvement with tuition. She would refuse to do tuition homework.

I sat with her as much as I can during her home drill practices, ban everyone from the TV, etc. She worked very hard and got up to 25*+ in her PSLE.

Parent's involvement, especially morally is more important than actually coaching your child in the subject. I believe many parents cannot handle those tough questions in top school exam papers with ease. But by providing moral support and spending time with the child while he/she is doing his/her drills make them feel that you are all working towards their goals together.

You are not wrong. The kids who have exemption from MT usually end up at an advantage and do fairly well in the end.

I have friends who applied for exemption as late as a few weeks before the PSLE!
