In my opinion, there's a big transition from O Level Pure Chemistry to A Level H2 Chemistry. Certain topics may be new and foreign so it's normal to struggle at the start. What's most important is that one must have the determination to perservere and not give up and procrastinate. .
I think it all boils down to one's aptitude and interest. My DD, IP student who took Chem from Y1-4 did very well for internal exams but when she took H2 Chem, she struggled from JC1up to A levels, usually failing n the very best just got E grade. She is a Humanities person
On the other hand, my DS, O level student who took Chem for O levels n now doing H2 Chem is doing better than her. He is a Sciences person.
Maybe a coincidence but I always believe a Humanities inclined person will do better in ' Arts' subjects n vice versa. -

Yes that has always been the norm since our time but there are always exceptions.
Why do u think MOE requires contrasting subject combi both in Sec school and JC? -

Hi parents,
I need your advice. If my daughter is doing Combined Bio and Chem now, is she able to apply for the Science stream in JC. -
xoxoxo:
Yes, defintely if she meets the criteria. (usually requires distinction in her combined science to take up H2 [Science])Hi parents,

Hi parents, can I enquire if there is a choice to do only 1 science subject in JC instead of 2 in a typical science stream.

That will usually be the \"hybrid\" stream - typically Maths, Science plus 2 other non-science subjects. One of the subjects can be a H1 if the student only wants to do 3 H2 subjects. Very rarely (and JCs may not allow this), a student might do Science plus 3 other subjects without Maths. But I think this is not advisable as some Maths is useful.
Also note that the cut-off point for hybrid combinations is the same as for Science combinations, and less-popular subject combinations may not be offered by every JC. It may be good to ask first. -
Hi,
May I know where to obtain information on past national performance of each A level subject ? -
May I know what is the difference to take 4H2 and 3H2/1H1 subjects?
Uni entry uas is based on calculation of 3H2 and the 4th H2 which will be converted to H1 score, is this correct?
If so, what if the student is weak in the 4th H2 subject, lets say scoring a C, so it will be converted to a H1 āCā score/points?
