Some of you may have gone for PTM... Mine is on 6th , Sat. I just wonder what purpose PTM serve, especially Parent can't intervene & make any difference.?

Pls elaborate what do you mean parents cant intervene n make any difference?

      :?

With only 6 month left & since they are already audults , any suggestion to go for tution or Working hard will be rejected.
It is a formality, i guess. School is doing its job of informing result, that's it.

Hmmm, I am not too sure but I think you are referring to your DD? Is there a way you can approach any of her teachers to have a motivational talk with her? Is she burnt out? Do you know what is bothering her?

I attended my DD's PTM recently n found it useful. I approached her subject teachers who are very happy to answer any concerns regarding my dd's performance in her tests. They also point out to me her strengths n weaknesses n gave me advice on how to tackle her weak areas. The Principal gave a talk n told us the schedule on what the school is going to do for the students for the next six months. His talk is very encouraging.

I feel that you should take this opportunity to find out more from the school n teachers n also address your concerns so that you can be better informed to help your dd for the next 6 months.

        Just my personal opinion!!!!!

        😄

How fruitful the ptm is depends very much on what type of teacher our kids hv. I rmbr last yr the teacher asked me why I come for ptm. :? 🤷

My purpose of ptm is more to find out how my child is at school, socially, any problems that are non-academic in nature. Academic wise, I can evaluate fr her results.
We just had our ptm 2 sats ago.
My ptms are usually short and sweet. Always wonder how some parents can sit and talk for 30mins.

Regarding PTM, so far i had only attended 1 PTM (in sec sch) … that was when she was in sec1…To see her HCL teacher …

I found that PTM wasnt useful … As her feedback was pretty general where she talked abt the huge jump of HCL std from pri to sec level…where most of the pupils/ parents experience the disappointment in marks…

Socially, i believe … i understand my own daughter MORE than any of her teachers do … i trust that she will come to me if she faces any social challenges in sch…
As for academic wise, Yes, i’ll evaluate from her results n monitor her progress…benchmark against sch given statistics…if in doubts, we can alwys email the subj teachers for additional info…

I wonder too how some parents can talk for 30 min or more, despite the teacher giving broad hints that their time is up.

That's the situation, perfact guess. She will barely pass at H2-Maths & now doesn't want to go for tution. Being Arts student, we always had to put MAths tution at Major exams , O-level. H1 maths would have been better , but she took H1 Econs.
Other day i asked, what do you think of 12 years of education journey...Answers is \"I am done\" . No more main stream degree at Uni. :slapshead:
