i having problem asking my child to do his homework and thus have withdrawn him from the school to reflect if it is a right course or right age for him to get started in reading. he tends to resist the homework and we are unable to get him motivated enough to do the homework.

do any parents having the same problem like me? my child is 4 yrs when started
Homework as in learning the spelling? Reading the passages? Split the work into few bite size, each time take ~10mins. Make it a routine. My DD started the programme at 3yo, she is currently 4yo and is going to complete the programme in another few months time. Be persistent.

ICR Junction 10 was taken over from a Chinese tuition centre, they keep the old furniture from the previous tenant which are meant for higher primary students. When I go for parent briefing at the centre, I saw small kids kneeing on the chair. How can they not taking any action after 1 year of the take over. This may cause incident and poor blood circulation.

          :?

            Hi,

Is ICR good? Or Mindchamps or Lorna Whiston? Torn between all the various choices. Any parents with feedbacks on these?

            Thanks.

            hi sunshine8

i was considering between icr and mindchamps n decided to choose mindchamps. the assessment done by mindchamps was more of ascertaining the level that my children can join, not how many letters or words my children can recognise, and definitely not about whether my children can read and write etc. i have both children in the program and they are doing well to date in terms of their confidence level and social skills, i also have seen great improvements in terms of word recognition.

hi 783742643, just curious... is the mindchamp reading prog same as what is taught in mindchamps preschool? thx

Does any parents continue their kids for i can read primary english programe?

my dd is at book6 now, tentatively should complete bk 6 in march2015. But dd did the primary1 assessment test and passed. Allowed to be promoted to i can read primary one programe.

Should i continue dd to finish off book6 till march 2015 or promote into the primary one english programe at ICR?

If not ICR primary english programe then which enrichment centre will be better for primary school levels?

dd will be primary one next yr 2015

Dear mummies, my son 3yo had went for the assessment last sat at bedok branch. He was recommended the i can read Preliminary program but due to his age , his much younger than other kids in the class he was recommended for the 1for 1 session which cost $40plus for 30mins session.I find the fees very high.I will prefer him to attend as a group 1.5hr lesson but was advised to put him in Thinking and creative class for afew sessions instead as the kids there about the same age as my DS then if he can cooperate well then put him in preliminary class.I was rather confused. Why cant they put him in the preliminary class straight away just becoz he is younger. Can mummies advise me on this? thanks.

The preliminary requires the child to be able to hold a pencil to write. It will be more suitable for 4 years old compared to 3 years old. Or you can look around for LCentral or iCreative Learners.

Write letters of the alphabet. My nephew at 4 still can't write the letters independently. He needs his mum to hold his hand to write. Most of the work look too perfect under his mum's guidance.
