What are the subject averages and standard deviations for each subject at NYPS? I just receive my dd’s SA2 statistics. The P5 subject averages are at least 70% and above and SD can be as low as 7+ to 17+%. I think 7+% is pretty low.

the SD for each subject is quite unique

          Pri 5 (2009)

          EL mean = 74.44, SD = 9.31
          CL mean = 71.36, SD = 13.48
          MA mean = 65.61, SD = 17.18
          SC mean = 68.65, SD = 11.89
          HCL meaan = 63.95, SD = 12.44

Pri 6 (2010 prelim, incl GEP)

          EL mean = 79.97, SD = 8.99
          CL mean = 73.47, SD = 11.53
          MA mean = 65.80, SD = 17.93
          SC mean = 68.69, SD = 13.45
          HCL mean = 64.57, SD = 12.28

HCL does not count in the t-score. because NYPS has a large cohort taking HCL, it is possible and meaningful for the school to work out the mean and SD, just data entry only

it can be observed that there is not much changes between pri 5 and pri 6 for the same cohort, and also, the SD and mean for each subject is unique to itself, eg math has highest SD. I suspect it is the same nation-wide

Hi, can anyone advise me if my child is around 90 marks in English, Math & Science but only 80 marks for Chinese. Will this greatly affect the T -Score in the end ? Because I believe more than 50% of the kids will scored well for MT. Thanks.

My DS got three A*, but got only A in MT and ended up with 255.

Looks like most kids have done well in MT this year?

The MT mean for PSLE is always high for all these yrs, not only this yr,
that explains why it has a higher impact on the overall T-score.

Could also possibly be due to A* at the lower end.
