At jc level, some have higher retainees’ rate as high as up to 10%.


For those deem unsuitable for jc education, they either transfer to poly or told to leave. The latter is a last resort after given another chance to sit for the easier supplementary exam.

Really sympathise with parents/students especially the guys easily 4 years behind the girls’ cohort (1+1yr poly+2yrs NS).

Can observe parents actually weeping during counselling sessions.

I think that pupil was downgraded to “O” level class (btw, DHS still has 1 small “O” level class to accommodate these pupils).
prob she doesn’t feel good remains in dhs, so she transferred out OR
that pupil could not meet the promo criteria. (Just my deduction).

Anyway, usually by 1 semester, pupils who have prob catching up,
the teachers would have noticed them and talked to them to buck up before things really go bad.

Yes, majority shd get thru.
I believe such things would happen in any IP schools...........
as there are always pupils who were successful during DSA, but in the end having psle agg score quite a gap from the official COP.

yes, i also heard of higher retainees' rate at JC level.
wonder under what circumstances / situations would the JCs disallow pupils to retain at JC1.

NJC used to do official intakes at Year 3 into their IP programme. They stopped this in 2009 I believe. I would think that transfers are still possible provided there are vacancies available.
