I would like clarification on whether higher Chinese is compulsory in secondary 1. Am I to understand that all secondary 1 students in Chung Cheng High will have to take higher Chinese? No exceptions?

I believe that this was answered in earlier posts in 2016-2017 but wanted to know if the position is still the same.

Yes, all students in CCHMS take HCL.

And in Sec 3, all students will sit for normal Chinese O level. If they score at least B3(I think), they will sit for HCL O level in Sec 4. Else they will retake normal Chinese O level again in Sec 4.

What is the percentage like (roughly) of CCH (Main) SAP school Sec 3 students gotten

                (B4, C5 or C6) in their O-level (bu-hua),

and hence barred from taking O-level (gao-hua) immediately in the following year Sec 4, but instead asked by school to re-take O-level (bu-hua) one more time,

hoping that this second chance re-sit offered will help these Sec 4 impacted students improve in their Chinese (bu-hua) grade,
resulting in a better L1R5 admission score, into the Junior Colleges (for A-level) ?

                Moreover,
CCH (Main) students are affliated to Nanyang Junior College. Even if students do not take O-level (Higher Chinese) because some of these Sec 4 students have been told to re-take O-level (bu-hua), and assuming they managed to clinche 2 discounted points for Cca successfully instead of just 1 Cca point, these students can still make it back to Nanyang JC, due to the affliation status, as long as they managed to meet the Affliation Cut-off point (COP) , into NYJC

What is the Affliation NYJC COP ?
                should be

                4 points

                ABOVE
the prevailing market-in-demand vs. Supply condition official Non-affliated Cut off point

                Example

Based on last year latest 2019 O-level National exam, what was the Science stream COP, for NYJC ?

MOE indicated that it is ... 6 points, for Science stream

                Evidence

                https://sis.moe.gov.sg/SchoolDetails.aspx?schoolCode=0805

So, if CCH (Main) students managed to clinche or achieved L1R5 of 10 points, then they can still go back to study in their Affliated NYJC -

                - assuming that these students have scored 2 points for Cca,

                plus

                - another 2 discount points, under affliation status, because they happen to be studying in Chung Cheng High

                Thus,
even if students never taken O-level (gao hua), never mind, it is still all right, if they can get at least 10 points. That's the beauty of being affliated, to a good reputable Junior College like Nanyang JC

Suggesting another perspective here, of not giving up on 高华, for these benefits:
                    - 2 points from CCA are for those students in “leadership” position. Or represented school. Statistically it’s the minority. Others will get 1 point. Chances are most student will only get 1 point.

                    - if student passes O level 高华, they don’t have to take Chinese in JC; 1 subject less and more time for other subjects

                    - for student qualified to take O level 高华, that will mean they have 2 O level subjects in 普 and 高华 to choose the one with the better result from, for their L1R5.

CCHM is a good environment to study 高华. We can encourage our kids to give it a good shot

Hello. CCHMS does not provide school / private buses. Many students travel there by public transport / cars. For public transport, you can take from Sengkang 4 stops to Serangoon, then change to yellow and 5 stops to Dakota. Travelling time shouldn't be long, and my daughter is studying here ( moving on to sec2 next year ). She's very happy! Though she wanted another school she came here cos of her COP. But now she is scoring straight As. Only school in sg to have natural lake and grand auditorium as national monument. Also have gym and many well renovated facilities. People here have strong sense of unity and academics wise, high standard. Got weekly calligraphy and tea appreciation lessons. Hope u choose Chung Cheng Main!
