[/quote]...just adding the rationale for the answer = \"a\"
..the sequence of letters is the first letter of the rank of a suite of cards:
        king
        queen
        jack
        ten
        nine
        eight
        seven
        six
        five
        four
        three
        two
        ace

        cheers.

            Hi Maths hub

My son is p6 next yr. He has no formal MO training before but he is in AMEC so next yr they will engage external trainer. I am thinking of signing up with maths arena for smops training but not sure with just one term in 2013, is it possible to get gold or platinum?

            Hi fanren,
It is possible, but not 100% guaranteed. We do have past records whereby students who join us for just one term were able to get gold or platinum. Factors like constant revision and actual day performance come into play as well. We strongly encourage him to join SMOPS training as early as possible (starting from December Holiday) so as to cover more topics tested in SMOPS.

Should you have more enquiries, please call Maths Arena at 6781 9325.

What are involved in the trainings? going through past SMOPS papers?
can't i just buy them since answers are provided? any value added service which is what I am looking for actually, thanks

Our worksheets and questions are specially designed by our instructors based on past year questions. Our lessons are structured topically such that students can get familiar with the same type of questions and practise the solving methods to a proficient level. For past SMOPS papers, HCI has stopped publishing the questions from 2010 onwards. Currently, we only still have year 2007 booklets left for sale.

Should you have more enquiries on our lesson plan, please call Math Arena at 6781 9325.

My DD will be starting P1 in 2013. Do you have any classes that can prepare P1 children for Maths Olympaid type of questions?

                  Hi ThinkingLoft,

We have IQ Maths classes for P1. The P1 IQ programme is designed to strengthen students’ mathematical and thinking skills through challenging IQ questions, games, as well as hands-on activities. The foundation strengthened will help your daughter in preparing for Maths Olympiad. Our Maths Olympiad programme will start from P2 onwards.

                    Hi mummies..

ANy feedbacks for Mathshub @ Bukit Timah branch? Are the teachers good? I went to the centre to check out last week but the front staff (a young Filipino lady i guess?) was not very clear about the programs offered and just got me the flyer to read, which I can also find that online. Like I asked what kind of materials they teach, she just got me a clear folder with exercises to flip through. OMG my confidence level sort of waver.... Probably will check out the Bukit Batok branch soon.

I'm planning to send my child for P2 IQ Math next year, wondering if it suits her but no matter how much hearsay, i guess just let her try 1st then monitor on..... Her math is still alright as she was from a Montessori-based childcare ctr, and now I am looking for a programme that can train her mind & evoke further interest to prepare her for future Math challenges ahead.

Have tried S.A.M but it's drilling drilling and more drilling. Too monotonous she gets a bit bored 🙂 Wonder if Mathhub kinda environment is suitable for her.

Hope mummies can share with me.

                      Dear bigmama,

Thanks you for considering Maths Hub. Our sincere apologies to your experience at our Bukit Timah branch.

For P2, we are offering 2 types of classes: P2 IQ and MOT Level 1.
                      1) Our IQ programme is designed to strengthen students’ mathematical and thinking skills through challenging IQ questions, games, as well as hands-on activities. The programme will also cultivate interest in the subject.
                      2) Our MOT classes are more focused in delivering concepts. Questions will be more geared towards Maths Olympiad type of style.

In summary, IQ programme is more towards cultivating interest whereas MOT programme is inclined to concept-learning. All our materials are carefully prepared by our trainers based on past year questions and experience.

                        Hi MathsHub,

I intend to sign my kid up for MOT Level 1 but noticed that there are modules covered during the school holidays. As we are working parents, our child are not able to attend the weekdays classes. Will you be opening up weekend classes if the child misses the classes during holidays? Please advise. Thanks.
