PSLE COP 2009

It has been like this since last 2 years ... Same for CHIJ- Toa Payoh... these two schools are somhow exampted from taking students from outside...
Is not that they are exempted but affliated students are given priority. If they have 200 vacancies and there are 200 students who put them as first choice, they must accept all of them (just a matter of putting them in Exp or NA).
The situation is such that students from affliated schools usually take up all the vacancies, so there's no space left for non-affliated students. -

Woh . . . seems like these top schools have their COP drop. Anyone out there knows the reasons? If the COP dropped, that means the overall performance of the students had dropped as compared to the results for last year, so does it mean that the top 13 scholars in the list of MOE are really smarty - smarter than the 2008 top students? Just curious .
Congrats to all those who got into their choice school - well done and cheers.mrswongtuition:
I have a feeling the poor kids of PSLE 2010 are going to have a tough time as I believe the COPs would go up next year. It's been the trend almost every year, one year up, next year down. Well, I may be wrong!Another possibility is because many have gotten a place via DSA or are going to 'new schools' like School of Science & Technology.

Understand that! But it cannot happen that for three years , S1 posting has no one puttting PLMGS as one of the early option & there is atleast 1 place left.Is not that they are exempted but affliated students are given priority. I guess officially there is 200 places to be allocated for PLMGS in MOE system , but school can take 25-30 more... -

You must understand the school culture before you can make such assumptions. They are a niche school and have 'reserved' vacancies for DSA (whether they fill up all the DSA spots before S1 posting via MOE or not is up to the school).Understand that! But it cannot happen that for three years , S1 posting has no one puttting PLMGS as one of the early option & there is atleast 1 place left.

Many parents who put their girls in PL Pri chose PL Pri because of the affliation. In case their girls don't do well, they simply choose PL Sec. With the current affliation, those who may not qualify for Exp course in other schools can get into Exp at PL Sec. Who will want to give up such a chance? Not to mention that PL Sec has produced good O level results with such low PSLE T scores!
This trend will stop with 2011's PSLE cohort with affliated students gived bonus points instead. -

It actually doesn't matter. At the end of the day, the COP is down to the performance of the cohort, and if the child has a particular position in that cohort, it matters not if the general score moves up or down. -
Sorry Fairy, your post is a bit confusing, :? think because the \"quotes\" are missing. Can you confirm that only St Margaret is to be added? If so, I will do it now. Thanks.

Cud u elaborate further rgding "This trend will stop with 2011’s PSLE cohort with affliated students gived bonus points instead"???
Tks! -
I think the ACSI COP of 255 is for the IB only. Not the COP of the S1 posting.
