Actually they should raise the score to attract better students. Even getting into SJI needs 238 (affination).
For their own girls, so long as they get pass 200, they have a place
There have been some some talks that the new principal wanted to raise it to 220 or something like that but some parents who are old girls refused for obvious reason -

The standard of a school depends very much on the quality of their student intake. Anyone knows what is the ratio of girls in SCGS who are from their affliated primary school? and how is their O Level performance? which band? -

Affliations should be scrapped. Period. In Meritocracy society , this is unacceptable... -

Band 1 for quite a number of years. Amazing! -

Hi Vito, thanks for bringing the topic back on track, but I was wondering why you mentioned SCGS' COP all of a sudden? :? SCGS' COP is already updated as 251 and listed on Page 1, so I did not see any need to update anything.
Just random pick to get the topic back to where you wanna it to be lah ...
Ok, MGS 250 -
just wondering, since scgs and rv have the same cutoff 251, wat's the reason for the girls in scgs not moving to ip program in rv? other than distance? girls' school? prestige? :?
ermm, i dont mean rv is less prestigious. just that diff folks view prestige differently. -

I think garmen (or was it MOE) has stopped more schools from offering IP programs. Rationale is that they want IP programs to be offered only to the top 10% of the cohort.just wondering, since scgs and rv have the same cutoff 251, wat's the reason for the girls in scgs not moving to ip program in rv? other than distance? girls' school? prestige? :?

If MOE dont freeze it, then by the time this year P1 students (only 39,000 against 48,500 for 2009 PSLE) reach PSLE, everyone will be doing IP program. -
Sorry, accidentally edited my original post when I cut and paste for another reply.

You think the school want \"IP\" then MOE will give, ah? haha! Unless SCGS becomes \"independent\" like ACS(I), or stops accepting affiliated students, I doubt MOE will approve IP status. This is what happened with other top schools like Catholic High & CHIJ st nicholas when they applied for IP some years ago.just wondering, since scgs and rv have the same cutoff 251, wat's the reason for the girls in scgs not moving to ip program in rv? other than distance? girls' school? prestige? :?

Now SJI is trying to apply for \"IP\", but at least they are \"independent\", so can run 2-track O-level & IP programme like ACS(i), so maybe MOE will approve. Independent can run your own programmes, mah. -

Just to add : As for NYGH, for those to be considered for entry based on \"affiliated\" status, their minimum score must be 250. And it is also the MOE cut-off for the top 10% ranking......so, it seems, they allow IP schools to accept affiliated students provided there is a minimum cut-off around the top 10% ranking. As for SCGS case, the alumni is strong - so they do influence on the cut-off and acceptance of affiliated students. They have always been a combined school for the Pri and Sec...so it is very difficult to persuade the management board to change.....got to go back to the founding principles / objectives of the school (my guess) - providing complete education all the way to Sec. As for NYGH, the primary section was part and parcel of the NY Girls School since its founding....and anyway since NYPS' % of students scoring the top 10% is around 40+% each cohort, there is no issue of disparity in T-score standing of NYGH students between NYPS graduates and others
