      hi qms,

actually this evening i did went down to NUS LV to have a look at the school. But i was told that they r having a parent session so cant go in n view the school. I can see that the school is really huge , 2 story high isit a non aircon classroom?
For NUS staffs who follow LV to SP2 will u still have the special rate or will have to pay as normal? Do you know roughly the % of parents who wanna stay with LV or wanna stay in LSH? Wats your plan? 🙂 Maybe i'll call the LV NUS to ask if i can enrol my son or put him on waitlist. Thanks so much ...

For the new branch of LV at SP2, will they also give science park parents special rate?

          morning qms,

I just called learning vision regarding the enrolment n was told that the priority will be given to those student who r currently in LV , follow by those who had pay deposit for next year programme than they will consider if they wanna take in anymore student.

I think my chances r v slim , since they only take in 160 student. So u intend to follow LV to SP2 or will stay in LSH?

            Hi Fion!

            Fion Loh:

Yes, there was an evening session for parents who couldn't attend the afternoon session.
            Fion Loh:

The classrooms are air-conditioned. However, they usually switch on the air-conditioner in the afternoon, starting from when the children take their naps. It also depends on the teachers, too.

The NUS centre is the largest centre. In fact, it was originally catered for about 238 children. Due to the popularity, they built a new partition near the entrance so that they could squeeze in another class.

The centre has a playground behind the building. Sometimes, the teachers would bring the children to the playgrounds in other parts of Kent Vale.
            Fion Loh:

We were told yesterday that we would be charged the corporate rate. Although the fees for next year will be higher than what we are paying currently, the difference is not great. However, for parents whose kids are younger, they will have to take into consideration future increases in the fees. Nevertheless, they will be regarded as corporate customers.
            Fion Loh:
Do you know roughly the % of parents who wanna stay with LV or wanna stay in LSH?
No idea. Spoke to a few parents before the briefing yesterday. They were more likely to stay put, that is, go with LSH. Not sure if they had changed their minds after the briefing. Major concern to them was the cost. Now that Learning Vision has shed some light on the fees they will charge, I believe some parents will change their minds.
            Fion Loh:
            Wats your plan?
We will be attending the briefing session by LSH next Friday. Will decide thereafter.

Parents were told by Learning Vision to revert back to them with our decision by 07 Nov. We will have a clearer picture on the intake then.
            Fion Loh:
Maybe i'll call the LV NUS to ask if i can enrol my son or put him on waitlist. Thanks so much ...
Yes, please speak to the principal, Mrs Joanne Ng. As the leader of the centre, Joanne will be able to give you a better picture of the leadership style, philosophies, etc. of the centre.

More information on Learning Vision's program in Science Park: They may be offering optional programs like swimming and Chinese Literarcy next year. This year, they offer Ballet, Science, Music and Gym. If you get to speak to Joanne, you may like to find out more information about these optional programs, if you are interested.
            Fion Loh:
I think my chances r v slim , since they only take in 160 student.
Actually, parents who had already paid deposits did so assuming Learning Vision would still be in Kent Vale. Now that Learning Vision is moving to SP2, there is a possibility of withdrawal by some.

Is SP2 more convenient to you compared to Kent Vale? How keen are you in sending your son to Learning Vision at SP2? If you are very keen, I suggest you talk to Joanne, and see if you can place a deposit now. However, please \"negotiate\" with Joanne that, if, eventually, the centre is filled up after taking in the top two categories of children, you should be allowed to take back your deposit. This will increase your chance, right, rather than just putting your name down in the waitlist. It shows you are really keen with Learning Vision.

If you are really keen, consider my suggestion above. By 07 Nov, you will have a better picture of your chance. If you do not stand a chance iwth Learning Vision, you can apply with LSH then, because LSH requires parents to pre-enrol with them only by 15 Nov.

Of course, there is no guarantee that my suggestion above will be accepted by Learning Vision, but at least it's worth a try. At the end of the day, it boils down to how interested you are in leaving your son with Learning Vision.

Please let me know if I can be of any assistance.

            Hi janenus!

Nothing was mentioned, but I think there should be. Please call the Learning Vision for further clarification.

                Hi Qms,

Actually SP2 will be nearer to my place. I’ve tried to call NUS LV but the lady told me that their wait list is full as well. I don know how i can contact Joanne to ask if i can pay a deposit for next year programme. If i cant get into learning vision than i hope that i can get a space in LSH.

                  Hi yella!

The exact address will only be known to parents next week, because the place is currently under renovation. I suppose Learning Vision wants parents to visit the new centre only after the completion of the renovation, and hence, they are withholding this piece of information.

By the way, we would appreciate if you could kindly report at the Newbies thread, as a standard protocol. 😉 :siam:

Hi Fion, what about the waiting list for LV@IBP? They are having a new centre there soon right? I know other than Kent Vale, LV has a centre at Temasek Lifesciences too.
