Disneyland

Well, it’s first time for us, and that was what’s recommended by the hotel staff - nearest mall is City Gate. Anyway, we got what we wanted

Glad you have had a good trip...the queue is not so bad at this time of the year and certainly Disneyland is well-visited by the adults in HK too.Well I came back with a cough . . . but that's becuase I did not have enough sleep.
Anyway, weather was great 16-19C, foggy at nights and early mornings. Not terribly crowded, with quite a fair bit of Singaporeans/Malaysians and PRC tourists, of course.
We stayed at Disneyland Hotel and I was told it's the better of the 2. That I could not confirm. What I could confirm better is the shuttle buses to Disneyland. They pick up from Disneyland Hotel first, so we don't have to wait too long for it. By the time it goes to Hollywood Hotel, half the bus is full - poor guys staying in Hollywood will have to face a longer queue for buses.
No complains on the hotel, except for food - limited choices, average food and you're a captured audience ! If you know what I mean ! Nearest convenient store is . . . near the airport at City Gate Mall
. We needed fresh milk for our kids - that cost us HKD220 return trip taxi to the Mall!
Overall experience was fantastic for my kids, of almost 5 and 3.5 years old. Queues to the rides/shows/performance are reasonable, except for occasional jostling. Well organized. Cantonese/English/Mandarin are widely used - so not problem in that department.
Another observation is that : I would expect the queue to the rides will consist mainly kids and adults with kids. But it's equally packed with adults alone !
HK is a place where the adults do not mind carrying a huge plush toy and travel on the MRT.... Even their winter wear accessories, they don't mind appearing in the cartoon character form of a headgear or gloves....that is why I love HK....people are not self-conscious and carefree in their passion.

I think what really makes the difference is the weather. In such pleasant weather, queueing and long walks become very bearable. And people do not mind coming out to enjoy the theme park . . . in full force
Now it makes me wonder, how would IR in Singapore fare, given our tropical weather ?
Deep in me, I’m already planning for Tokyo Disneyland as our next destination (though not so soon, and of course I will not tell my kids) -
i was there last year in Hong Kong, is not worth the trip… i suggest you go to sentosa the universal studio will be better…
or otherwise go to Japan, but not in the peak time, or you have to Q for long time for one ride. -
I am planning to go hk disney land with my kids.
can anyone recommend any good travel agent other than chans brother? -
personally will not recommand HK for young children.
bad air, strong viruses.
think of the recent haze. something like that there year long. summer is worse.
during change of seasons and winter, super strong flu viruses.
the last time we went with my son (going two at that time), end up become a hospital tour. -

When travelling with young kids it would be better to go by Free and Easy...I am planning to go hk disney land with my kids.
can anyone recommend any good travel agent other than chans brother?
I always travel free and easy with my kids...to Korea/Australia/Beijing/HK
2 years ago tried Package Tour ...the whole family did not like it ....very rushing....
So next time we will still opt for Free and Easy....
Travelling to HK is easy ...their MTR is like our MRT....
buses also very convenient.
You should let your kids experience oversea public transport...
So in HK we took their MTR, Buses , Ferries....

For my last visit in March,
I use http://www.airfares.com.sg as a guide, else go directly via budget air websites.
For hotels, I stayed at Cityview - it's practically next to yau ma tei mtr station. The airport bus (cheaper than train) stops very near to the hotel. There is a porridge place (popular) directly opposite the hotel. one of those night markets was in the next street. This was booked directly at cityview HK website (cheaper than Asia travel in this instance).
Then we moved to Disneyland hotel. For HK300 more, I bought DS1 a annual Disney pass. This saved me more money when booking the Disney hotel - 35% off I think. And currently, if you stay at the hotel, you can go to Disneyland for 2 days.
Going around HK, we took mainly MTR, and on occasion the bus (to Ocean Park). It's really very easy.

hi Hquek,
Like to check with you, which kind of annual pass did you buy, the value or deluxe to enjoy the 35% off the hotel discount? Can I get the child tciket and still enjoy the offer or I need to buy an adult annual pass?
Planning to book a F&E trip to HK in June.
Thanks in advance -
HiHI,
