tt's why i have to assign the cooking to my maid lor. so that i have more time to do other things. usually wat time u all sleep and wat time get up ? i sleep early before 10pm..the most read a bit of newspaper after my kids sleep then i feel tired already. the next morning get up at 530am (my DS's mornign feed) then lie for abt half an hour 6am get up make breakfast for my DH , if my mum not around, i will be the one to make the porridge for DS and then clean up my DD and all.. then it's already 730am.. i go to work..

        Hi micollh,

Wow, you are really hard-working! You don't assign such duties to your maid at all? For me, I will sleep when DS sleeps at about 10 pm and gets up at about 7 am in the morning. Eat breakfast, shower then go to work together with hubby on the way send DS to school! My maid will make all our breakfast and then shower my boy in the morning while I get ready for work. Then all of us will go out of the house together!
        :celebrate:

maid for me is to do housework, not looking after my kids. since i find cooking dinner take up my bonding time with my kids, so i delegate this task to her, but for breakfast which is simpler, i do it myself. im very handson with my kids, which i must say im proud of it as a FTWM cos the precious time with them is short, when they grow up, we might never have the chance to brush their teeth, bath them, change them u know.. so i want to cherish these moments with them.

Hmm... I'm a FTWM, I have to cook every evening as my family has multiple allergies... a few dishes for your consideration πŸ™‚

                  - Pasta. (different kinds like aglio olia, tomato base, or cream based)
                  - Stew with Bread rolls or rice
                  - Macaroni/ noodle soup with yong tau foo/ meat balls etc
                  - hamburger/ hotdog bun with salad and soup
                  - fried rice/ noodle
                  - fish/meat porridge with you tiao

I usually only get abt 30mins to cook, and I have gadgets like thermal pot, slow cooker, rice cooker and oven to help. I just stuff everything into the various pots, or cook stew n rice in the morning.. I also plan my menu every week so that I make sure I buy everything i need, and cut and marinate before I freeze them. So when I get home, i just take out from fridge and pop into oven etc..

Shame to say that I cook only for a family of 3 without much allergies but a soup is almost a must.
So besides having a small pot of soup, I will usually add a simple dish of steam food which can be pop into the rice cooker when cooking rice.
I have been steaming lady fingers, bringal, egg etc and all of us are tired of these steam food.

starlight1968sg, u can try to steam brinjal with some minced meat on top. but need to add some dark soya sauce and fry the minced meat. if steam the brinjal alone will be very bland.

                      anymore simple recipe to suggest?
