Heard from my neighbour’s child that most of the Science PSLE questions are rather simple as he did similar questions during his Tuition class and he revised the tuition files thoroughly. He was so happy and told me that the tutor went through questions on dengue and some other questions tested in the PSLE. However, another friend’s child knew that he had done the questions at the same Tuition class but he did not know how to do some of them as he did not revise.

So I think the child has to revise what they learn. Otherwise it will be be money wasted.

What are the fees like for Serena greenhouse's primary school science?

        Thanks.

I would not recommend Serena Greenhouse for primary school science. She is very intimidating to weaker pupils and does not creates any fun during lesson but in fact, builds fear in the student. There is not much Science experiment and her style is very much \"drilling\". My DD cried after her worksheet was flashed on the projector for everyone to see her mistakes and she felt very demoralised thereafter. I feel that Serena's way of teaching is not right. She is embarrassing my DD in front of the entire class and this is seriously not what a teacher should do.

We get reports like these sometimes. Like we said, all reports, good or bad, are welcome as part of our effort to keep our system \"updated\" but be wary of the hidden intention of the poster. Posters must post as per their actual experience of the enrichment provider. Our goal is to improve the nascent background tuition of Singapore, so that the claim to have the best education system in the region holds true!

Any recommendation for one to one for Science tuition in Kembangan area? I approached a centre recently. My child is very weak in foundation. I showed the teacher at the centre my child’s Science exam paper. The teacher looked through and highlighted the areas that my child is weak in. I was impressed as the teacher was able to pinpoint my child’s weaknesses by looking at the paper.

the teacher told me very frankly that my child would need one to one. No point wasting money and time in group lessons. On to one - the tutor can help my child in specific areas and topics. These were the exact words used by the school teacher when I talked to my child’s school teacher.

Would appreciate if anyone has recommendation. I think the tutor and the school teacher are right. As parents, we have to recognise that not every child can cope with a group class. I also mentioned that my child has low self-confidence. She is afraid of asking her school teacher and always seems to think that the teacher is picking on her when the teacher points out some mistakes she makes. But I talked to the school teacher before and a number of parents too. I know that the teacher was only trying to help my child. No doubt the teacher is very strict. But I can understand why. It is not easy to handle a class of 40 kids.

Any advice on what I can do on the self-confidence part?

                    Dear all,

For those who have enquired regarding the tutor I have previously mentioned, her name is Teacher Nicky.
Please PM me if you need her contact details because I seldom check back on the forum.
My boy has just gotten back his results for PSLE on Wednesday and he got an A* for his science. We are over the moon!! Highly recommend this teacher if you want to see improvement in your children’s results.
She only teaches up till primary 6 PSLE so my boy can’t continue lesson with her anymore in Secondary School which is really a pity.

My boy is currently under a private tutor and is improving a lot. He’s been with her for about 1 year now and his results has been improving steadily from borderline pass last year, he can score A now. She’s also teaching my siblings children and they have also been improving, really glad i found her.She teaches only science and i’m not sure whether she travels out far because me and my siblings all live in bukit panjang area.

She provides her own notes, worksheets and mindmaps and sometimes even do simple science experiments with my kid so he really loves her lesson. Science experiment really takes up a lot of time but he got better concept of the topic after the experiments.

Hi tyxmummy, appreciate if you can PM me the contact. Thank you.

I know of a really good tutor from tuition centre @ Holland area. She's one of the best kept secrets, many high ability kids under her in my DS's school but parents kiasu or selfish, don't want to recommend. Slowly one by one quit own tuition and switch to her. After I sent my son to her, I see why the kids love her, very inspiring. Can pm u if you don't mind the travel.
